my neighbor has a civic with a turbocharged integra gsr motor in it and he says he'll run me for 500$ and give me the start, will he blow my doors off? this is on straight up street tires, no dr's or cheater slicks and he only runs little 14 or 15 inch rims and i get the start, here is my set up,

1990 GT w/T-5 with moderate weight reduction (3200lbs with me and some gas)

underdrives
x pipe
headers
march ram air
125 dry shot of nitrous
adjustable fuel pressure regulator
MAC upper and lower control arms
centerforce clutch
synthetic everything
stock gears :notnice:
stock mufflers :bang:

i could put my ported lower or a typhoon intake on there also if necessary,

i know his set up is not perfect either as he blows headgaskets like every week, so will i get slaughtered or make 500$$ :D

:D First and foremost make sure youre a very decent driver. I beat a dohc b16a hatch recently with my 86GT with only i/h/e and some little stuff. The fact that he has probably the most powerful engine u can safely and sanely put in that car says alot about how much money he has. The fact that it's a turbo doesn't worry me..it's all the supporting mods which we can safely assume he has...probably some serious fuel management and stuff. Since the b16b he has is already ported he can be making great hp and tq numbers for a honda all they way up to lets say 8000, maybe more with a reall nice computer and built internals...which he does have becuase youd have to be stupid to run that much hp on that expensive of a setup with stock internals. You have some nice mods...youll take him at the beginning, but just realize that as you shift at 5800 from second to third hell be at the same rpms but wont shift for another second and a half...a huge advantage considering that point when u shift is exactly when he hits his true power band from 4-7 grand. My only advice...get good traction and make clean shifts. But you might learn your lesson about lying ricers...he could have a b18c (type r) or a b20b (prelude sh). Godspeed. :D

B20 is the CRV motor, preludes have the H22A... and the H22A is the king of motor swap setups, trust me. As far as if you can beat him... car for car, no you cant. He should be running solid 12's, maybe faster, and you should be running solid 13's. But if the car runs bad (like a TON of turbo Hondas do since they are speed density) and he cant hook, and your car runs well and you do hook, there a chance. This is why it's called gambling and not automatic taking of other peoples money lol

You're right. I'm a little rusty from my high school ricer days. This is funny to me becuase I have three friends who all boosted there integra, civic hatch, and crx, and all three of them blew their headgaskets that same day. We go cruise sometimes and theyll just pop open the hood and turn up the boost guage and retard their timing with a screwdriver and wonder why there car is misifring like a mother:fuss:. About h22's yes they are king...but simply for drag racing...an engine that big that far forward in a car that small? good luck getting that thing to turn. Either way just race the guy and if you lose tell him you'll race when you boost your car. :D

yeah, i'm sure his car is faster on paper or maybe at the track, i just remember that in Sport compact car awhile back they had like a 500 Hp civic with everything that would only run a 13.1 on street tires and really inconsistent cause it was like wheelspin in every gear for the whole quarter mile, thats why i was like: only on real street tires if i get the start will i do it, cause i'm hoping i'll have better traction/torque and getting the jump should get me maybe 2 car lengths, i know for sure he has stock internals also cause i remmeber when he got the motor and the motor tag says B18C so i know its a 1.8 vtech gsr motor, and i would know if he swapped the block or something, his tires are only like 205/15's too, but his car is kind of light also, i also know he has an open differential, no limited slip in his car

thanks for the tip about shifting, i hadn't thought about that, his car also has crazy short gears though so he will be shifting more compared to my stock geared mustang, this guy has also never taken his car to the track so i dont know how good of a driver he is,

he was going to go with the h22 from a prelud but the cylinder walls and decks on those motors suck and he said he can make more hp with the gsr cause he can run more boost,

well before my stang i had a fast integra. had a b20 built block. 9:1 JE pistons, eagle rods, block girdle kit, polished crank, balanced, and bluprinted. Had a type R head with crower valve spings, retainers, and valves. Crower turbo cams, cam gears. Skunk 2 Intake Manifold, aem fpr, and fuel rails. With a custom turbonetics turbo kit @ 14 psi. With a full 3 inch exhaust. That motor was fully built and ran 11's all day at the track on slicks. Now on street tires i couldnt see boost until about late 4th gear. the car dyno'd 412 fwhp. if i tryed to race it on the street id probably run mid 13's.

that gives me some hope, cause i doubt his civic is as bad ass as your integra sounds! and if that would run mid 13's on the street, i could probably run a low 13 if i hit everything right on the street and i get the hit, i'll be running race gas if i run him also, cause i got a can of it here for my motorcycle, so maybe i'll up the nitrous to 150 and crank up my fuel pressure a bit if i think my car can handle it

I can't tell you if you will beat it, but i can tell you that my cusion has 91 honda hatch with p&p R head, rebuilt short block with aftermarket stuff( don't know much about imports, can you tell?) exhaust, something to make the Vtec come on at a lower rpm and it is N/A. He just recently tore apart a friend of mine with a 89 mustang with ported e7s. MAF, headers, exhaust, 3.73 and u/d pulley. The guy with the mustang can drive too so it wasn't that, let us know if you race him. Good Luck :nice:

so... i guess i should run him huh?! would be sick to take his money as he runs his damn mouth all the time about domestics! i've ran NA vtech swapped civics on with my car on the bottle and beat them pretty seriously, but this car is alot more serious than those were.

the race was for roughly a quarter mile, i will measuer it off, i guess shorter the better cause of his obvious power advantage, i have a WC T-5 with centerforce dual friction clutch, upr shifter and redline fluid, basic driveline.

i think its probably a good idea to keep the nos to 125 or so actually, maybe your right....

crv block with a type r head.the only thing about when you do that is they have really week bottom ends and the way ppl drive em dont last very long.youll get beat though, expecially with stock gears.try to race him from a roll tho at about 35

Oh you can def. take him, if he has a VTEC then he cant be pushing that much boost because of the high compression they produce. If he even tries to but 10 lbs of boost in that honda then he'll blow a rod. Also the only reason they have is more horsepower is because of their higher compression. But jus make sure he has stock internals because if he doesnt then dont take the chance.

Integra GSR motor, 1.8DOHC VTEC motor and a Turbocharger. Well, it's what's in the details that counts. If he just swapped stock motors and bolted on a basic turbo kit, you have nothing to worry about, but if he really got crazy and started dumping money in it, you might have a handfull.

For money, don't let him have a handicap. Don't bet on equal terms unless the race is on equal terms.

:owned: hes such a cocky bastard and was the one who recommended we run for cash, so i told him only if i get a car length and the hit, so we settled on just the hit after some bartering, not equal, but unequal in my favor :D i know he just recently got the motor so i think his set up is kind of in between, like i know he has a intake manifold and some cam gears, but i believe it has stock cams, and all stock internals for sure, with a pretty basic turbo kit bolt on, no tubular headers or nothing, but has a BOV and big ol wastegate, i'm going to run him and represent stangnet a bit, should be fun taking his money :rlaugh: we'll see, probably run him later this week, i'll get back at you guys and let you know how much i made off him :owned:

btw, why do you say dont put money on an unequal race if its in my favor?

Well its very possible he could beat you but remember anything can happen. That car probably is pretty fast. I went against a turbo sentra ya a sentra and he go me by a car length because we were rolling and he jumped me. So NEVER underestimate a car.
