Dual exhaust

Yeah but WHICH pipes exactly? The tailpipes have the same part number for the 5.0's and the 2.3's. The Y-pipe is specific to the 2.3L, but I don't remember if the SVO and Turbo Coupe used the same Y-pipe, and also this Y-pipe doesn't just bolt right up to the factory cat pipe. It takes a little tweaking to get it all to fit right. Also you gotta rig up some hangers for the passenger side muffler and tailpip.

Just go get a Y-pipe from an exhaust shop, the one that did my exhaust a couple years ago had one in stock. It's not a terribly "precise" part, so you don't have to have this certain particular exact one.

I've asked before and I'll ask again: Why put dual exhaust on a four cylinder? But go ahead...

because ford did it?? 86 svo's came factory with dual exhaust :p

on my 88 I just got a flowmaster y-pipe single 3" to dual 2.5" and slapped an american thunder setup on behind it. sounds good but a little loud.

the svo has a sacramento mustang 3" downpipe on it with the factory y-pipe and tails with a pair of summit mufflers on it and it sounds MUCH better in my opinion....sooo nice and quiet until you get on it.

yea i want to put duals on my 89 N/A also, where can i get a left hand tail pipe that is the right daimeter? i already have a brand new one on the right side, i might get new pipes from the headers back. maybe even new headers, but idk yet

You could get a left tailpipe the same place you got the right tailpipe. If you picked it up from a friend or something you can try www.mustangsunlimited.com or maybe www.50resto.com. You will only get one header, as the engine is an I4. You can get a header from www.racerwalsh.com. Also try your local Auto Zone or Advance Auto parts for the tailpipes, they'll probably be cheaper.

Ford also canceled the SVOs production, so is everything Ford does beyond reproach?

Why add additional weight to a car already to heavy for a four cylinder? Why purchase an additional muffler when it won't affect the sound/back pressure at all?

Read my sig, specifically the exhaust part, my stang sounds great and is louder than some V8 stangs that still have their factory exhaust setups...

Just my thoroughly sensible opinion though...

For the duals, how much do you think it would set me back for a custom setup with Flowmaster 40 series mufflers? I want something similar to that guy that has the 91 turbo hatch that he nicknamed "Fourced." I love the sound of his exhaust.

On my old '90 I had a y-pipe, dual 40's, and tailpipes from a '99 GT (I wanted them mostly because they're stainless) and altogether including some work I had done at a muffler shop (welding and such) it ran me about $350-ish.
