ok the question is, does the 2.3 na have a posi rear end????/

i say yes becuase when jacked up and car turned on, both rear wheels spin. aka positraction right?

My dad says that cant be true becase they would put posi on my 4 banger, and becuase when i squeel my tires, it only leaves on tire mark.

is the rear end posi on my 2.3 na?

it isnt?!?!?! DAMN IT! lol

then how do both wheels spin when i jack it up? isnt that was positracion is?

and if it really isnt, how hard would it be to put a posi from another car on?

lol nice

i still dont understand why both wheels spun when i jacked it up then. becuase i thought positraction meant both rear wheels spin instead of just one, and thats wat happend to me...

It's kinda hard for me to explain how it does this and still be a non traclok. It's something to do with the drive shaft off and someone holding on to the yoke while someone spins the tires to check for sure.

I think they both spin, but when one wheels is losing traction, non-trak-lok sends more power to that wheel. Trak-lok/Posi-traction is when the wheel losing traction gets sent less power so that the wheel with traction moves the car.

ooo ok, that makes alot more sense, my dad just explained it that if i didnt have positraction, only one wheel spins. that makes alot more sense though

The way to tell if it has traction lock is the direction the other tire spins. If it spins the same direction as the wheel you are turning, then it has traction lock. If it spins the opposite direction that you are turning, then it is either an open rear end, or a really worn out traction lock.

it has the same limited slip "posi" that all the other 7.5 rear ends had....8.8s too for that matter. the one wheel peel is just a symptom of worn out clutches that the ford rear ends are notorious for...

somebody at ford must have messed up when they put my car together then, cuz i've got an open Diff. Maybe i'll write them a letter and see if i can get them to give me a free trac-lok setup since they forgot to install it the first time :bang:

unless someone has changed the rear its a open diff...the LSD diff offered in a 4 cyl turbo Ford was the SVO and the Turbo Coupe and Couger,..you said it made both tires spin when you ran the car on stands?? well thats becouse there was no load on the rear..you could have someone hold a tire then run it again and only one wheel will spin..but i dont racomend it sometimes if the diff fluid is heavy or cold itll make the drag stronger so it takes more force to hold one.....to the last post itll spin both wheels if you drop the clutch and the force (inertia) is enough to break the static friction of both rear wheels...and if there isnt a big traction differance IE one tire in dirt and other on pavement.....best way to see is pull half on off the road...one rear in the dirt..dump clutch and go and see if you leave black marks on the road and a trench in the dirt........also someone thought the clutch was making his spin both wheels..nope its not even a related part..just a fluke that its happening now...the clutch only will make it spin faster since itll grap and not slip when the torque from the engine is applied.....anyways sorry you lost the bet.....and the best way to see if you have an Open diff while the car is in the air is to put it in gear...and turn one wheel and watch the other wheel if it spins oposit of the one you are turning then its open..if it spins in the same direction as the wheel you are turning its a LSD unit..........................Hal

The trac lok unit has a series of clutch disks in it, that is what he was talking about, not the clutch that works with your tranny like Tealtiger was thinking.

And hes right, the ford 4cyl fox mustang wasn't offered with a trac-lok unless it was a turbo setup.

if you can manage to get equal traction on both tires then both will leave marks. very rare though. usually just one leggers are left. if you do manage to get both to spin then it wont last very long.
