Continued Shaker 500 "B" unit problems >

Well, I have a 'G' series. Mine was built 9/14 and it only skips maybe 3-4 times a-month. Not enough for me to risk having a tech, screw-up my dash, taking it apart. I can live with it. I also play ALOT of burned mp3 cd's, so the 'few' times a-month it nothing to me!

Oh no - you have the dreaded "g" series, which makes the skipping problems with the "a" series seem like nothing! ;)

No, I had the "g" series, which skipped, and had it replaced with a "remanufactured" a series. This one is even worse, and will have to be replaced again.

Quite franky, the CD player is the worst thing about this car, it sucks. Compare it to something you'd find in, say, an Acura RSX, and the quality is just not there. :notnice:

i dont have a problem with mine....

had mine replaced 2 times.First replacement would not program for installer and came out.3 weeks later they put another one in and in 2 weeks of loudly playing my collective soul, seether and shinedown CD's I havent had one skip,"bad CD" or unprovoked eject. There is hope.

You just hit the core of the problem.

The old Mach 460 systems which were pretty much problem free were built by Visteon, Ford's parts spin-off.

The Shaker 500 & Shaker 1000 are built by Delphi, GM's spun off parts buisness. So until Ford changes vendors, I guess we'll have to live with the Delphi - Shaker problems.
Umm Ive had four stangs with the Mach systems. They were all garbage. they would eject cds for no reason.

My dealer is confused about how to replace mine. He says he may have to take my "A" series out and send it to whomever for repair or replacement. Did anyone else have to go without a stereo while Ford fixed or repaired theirs? Seems wrong to me.

I have the "B" unit on my 05 V6 Mustang. Built in June 05 and burned discs skip constantly. Burned brand new discs and same problem. Retail CD's work fine. Don't know what the problem would be with a burnt CD. Anyone else only having problems with burned CD's but retail are fine?

I read all the posts from last year before buying mine figuring Ford would have a fix or demanded one of Shaker. Guess not.

I haven't experienced this problem with my shaker 500, but I spoke to my stereo guy who said that a common problem with multiple disk in-dash cd players is heat soak to the servos that spin up the disks. Apparently it gets hot in the reciever and the CD's hold heat really well, especially when they are stacked close together. Any thoughts?

I posted earlier that my shaker 500 was skipping on burnt cd's constantly. "B" Unit. I don't know if this is a solution or not but here is what may have been causing my problem. Albeit it's only been one day of testing. On my home burnt cd's I used a cd label maker and the manual says specifically don't do that. I burned two new cd's and loaded without labels. No problems with skipping whatsoever. I also talked with an owner of the 1,000 series shaker and he said that to burn the cd's at a slower speed in addition to not using paper labels that adhere to the disc.
May not solve everyone's problem but hopefully I am done with skipping home made cd's.
Will re-post if I start having issues again.

Shaker 500

I just bought my 05 GT and I have the same problems. Automatic rewind, cuts off before song is over and starts next song. I am glad I read your post to see that they offer another version of the stereo. But I am not happy to see you have the same problem. I am going to go with an aftermarket Kenwood Touch screen it fits perfect in the space the shaker goes. Good luck with yours.

Got my second B unit on order- it's better than the A unit I had but it still skips on store bought CDs so I'm going to make them get it right. If this one's no good I'm going to see if they'll subsidize a new aftermarket unit (we've got a lemon law in KY also so if it's NG 3x times I should have some bargaining power).
