Hey guys kinda new to the whole Mustang world, been a Lightning owner for 2 years and totalled it when some idiot ran a stop sign. I ended up with an 01 True Blue with 18" Saleen wheels. I would like to know what would be the best suspension drop for it. I have looked at the H&R and the Sportline Kits and they seem to be the same price. Is there any difference of prefrance between the two? Also does anyone have the same setup with a drop? I would like to get the sportlines but I am in fear that it will be to low....

I think im going to go with the H&R springs. HOw difficult are they to install? Could this be done in my driveway or should i pay someone to do this? Also would i NEED a C/C Kit?

you getting the sport springs or the super sports? yes you can do this in your driveway with basic tools, i'm going to do it this weekend. CC plates would probably be a must.. might as well go ahead and get them just in case.

Im going to get the H&R Super Sports. Does it matter what C/C kit i get? I read on a web site that changing the struts and shocks is mandatory, is this true? Does any one have pictures of a GT on 18"s with either a H&R Super Sport or Sporline drop?

Most people say to get 4 bolt caster and camber plate sif you're going to be going with coil overs later on, cause the 4 bolts are stronger. Personally, i went with 3 bolt steeda CC plates, which are just fine for aftermarket springs/shocks. It is not necessary to change your struts and shocks, but many believe that since you're doing to have to do it later down the line anyway, you may as well go ahead and do it all at once...

Do a search to find pictures and more information for your question.

I looked at your pics and like the look and stance your car has. Is there any clearance issues with it being that low? ALso what size tires are you running? I am still running the stcok Saleen tires. Is there alot of rubbing?

I looked at a C/C Kit at RPM Outlet.com. Is anyone familiar with that peice? Is it what im looking for?

I have the Eibach Sportlines and I love mine. I DO bottom out sometimes on my driveway (which is at a slant) but I think ANY remotely lowered car would, so 1.5" or 2" drop is no difference for my driveway, they both would bottom out. I would go with a 1.5" drop at least if you could, it looks nice. I installed them myself in a few hours. I also installed my Tokico Stuts and Steeda Strut Tower brace and Steeda C/C plates at the same time, so it took me 2 days to do it all.

I would strongly recommend doing it yourself too! :nice: http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/steedaspring1.htm has a good write-up on installing lowering springs. the only problem with the directions there is that they FORGET to tell you to remove the sway bar linkage, running to the A-arms...wich you have to do to allow the springs to drop even lower so you can remove them. And you wont need a spring compressor if you just use a jack to compress the springs.

Good luck :nice:

Yeah you also have to drill an extra hole in your strut tower with the 4bolt C/C plates. ...no thanks, i'd rather go with the 3. I have the Steeda 3bolt also :nice:

Did you leave the isolators in when you installed your springs?

Yes. I can barely get two finders between the top of my tire and the car. The 265/35s are slightly shorter than stock too. The clearance under my K member is ridiculous, maybe I'll measure it up. I'm fed up with driving cautously everywhere, and never taking my car into the city for fear of construction work etc. Its a PITA. Cant wait for the Roush springs (will install them without isolators first and see how it sits).

How much of a drop did you get with those?? H&R states 2" in the front, 1.6 in the rear for the verts (For some reason the front on the coupes only drop 1.75, why the verts get an extra quarter of an inch i dunno). Did you get more than that in the front? BTW, the car looks great with that stance, but i know how you feel on the ride height being a problem. my last mustang was dropped pretty low too.

the advertised drop at MM is only with using there polyurethane isolators. From the pics I've seen, it seems to make a difference between 'slammed' and just right.

I have hard a lot about the polyurethne iso's... What are the advantages, and do they tend to lift the car more, or drop it more because they are smaller/bigger?

they are definitely bigger than the worn out stock ones. I haven't noticed a difference in feel, but I never heard a squeek in my suspension after I changed my springs/struts. I might take one out of my right side, since it sits a bit higher, freakin ford.

For those with a tight budget go for camber bolts at NAPA instead of CC plates, $12 bucks for each side, returns alignment back to stock settings, but doesnt give adjustability of CC plates.
