By the end of the year I want to have a 06 Mustang GT. I live in San Fernando, CA so Galpin Ford is probably the place I will buy it from, depending on the feedback I get. Who has, or was going to, purchased their Mustang from Galpin. Please share your experience, good or bad. Thanks!

I got mine there in April. The stick shift GT's were getting sold minutes after hitting the lot. The salesman I worked with knew a GT was on it's way and he actually drove out to the rail yard in Riverside to pick it up, drive it back, and make sure I was the first one to have a shot at buying it. Customer service has been top notch almost to the point where I had to tell them enough! I'm happy! Also, they sold me the car at MSRP and didn't require me to pay for additional dealer add-on's (like 20" rims or stick-on stripes). You can't go wrong there.

I haven't been to Galpin, but if you live in that area then you may have also looked at Sunrise Ford in N. Hollywood. Let me give you a piece of advice, avoid Sunrise Ford!

Their salesmen are the pushiest people around. I sent them one email, and in the following 2 months I got tons of email from them saying "Come in and let's find that Mustang for you" and I got 5 phone calls, even though I told them NOT to call me. Every time they called I asked them to stop calling me, but they didn't listen. It took them 2 months to finally give up.

They also add on crap to their cars like the afore-mentioned 20" rims, stripes, body pieces and other crap to drive up their already insane prices.

Avoid them like the plague.

I was referred to Galpin by a good friend so I called the salesmen first before going in. He told me where to park and how to get to his office to avoid the main enterance. If you just walk in you are subject to an attack from the huddled masses of hungry sales people.

The meeting went well and I left a $500.00 deposit on my O5 Gt. I was quoted 6-8 weeks. They were going to try and pull an earlier car for me if they could. They quoted full list price, no discount but also no add on's. This was back in December, so close to the height of Mustang-mania where other dealers in town were asking $3-5 K over list.

The weird thing is even if you order a car at Galpin, they would not guarentee you get it. IF the car comes in and another salesmen steals it before your salesmen knows it's there or you arrive late to pick it up, your car is gone..... no holding of cars for anyone for any reason even if the car was ordered for you. Because of this strange policy I kept looking around.

I had stopped by Beverly Hills Ford just as part of my locating process back in December. A couple of weeks after I ordered my car from Galpin, the salesmen from BH Ford called to say they received a car in just like I had wanted and was I still interested. Two hours later, no mark-ups, no extra's, I was driving my new 05. The owner of BH Ford has gone out of his way to assist with all of the problems the car came from the factory with and to make sure I am happy.

While I might go back to Galpin, I did not feel secure with their ordering procedjures and no guarentees. Galpin did refund my deposit prompty and without question. I have received great service and attention from Bevelry Hills Ford and would highly reccommend them.

Do yourself a favor and call Teri at Mossy Ford in San Diego.

Tell her Jamie recommended you.

I went to Galpin but they weren't interested in dealing at all. Yes they offered MSRP but basically had the attitude that it was their way or the highway.

I just felt a little like Galpin was so big that they didn't really care to have my business or not. But your mileage may vary :)

my family has also had good luck with Mossy. we've bought 3 fords from mossy ford and a 350Z from mossy nissan. their no-hassle policy is really great. only thing about mossy that has me concerned is a REALLY bad incident my grandfather had with Mossy Chevy about a month ago, but since it's not the same dealer i won't mention it here. i'm also not a huge fan of mossy ford's service dept., but sales is great!

We bought are GT Mustang at Galpin. They do sell at MSRP. But the problem we had is when we had dealer options installed. We get a call one day from the dealer that a White GT had come in that had everything we wanted. We had order one but haven't heard anything for a couple months so we were excited to get a phone call. I had to work that night, so my wife goes down to sign the paperwork. She wanted different wheels, stripes, DVD navigation, tinting & we added a body kit. We both go down the following down so I could sign the paperwork. I signed the paperwork and didn't think anything about it. We were going on vacation for a couple weeks and we were hoping the car would be ready to pick up before we leave. So time goes by and we havn't heard anything from the dealer. Finally my wife calls the salesman(Walter Bates) and he won't return her calls. She calls down to the dealership and talks to a number of people until finally she finds out about our car. Bottom line is they had not even started on it. Basically they got there money, so who cares if the car gets done. So now they finally are going to start working on it. We go on vacation and when we come back, we go the next day to pick up the car. When we bought the car it had 7 miles on it. We we picked it up it had 75 miles on it. I don't even want to imagine who or how it was driven. When we were driving it home the ride seemed a little rough. I check the air pressure in the tires and it was 45 PSI. I'm thinking what idiots. The sound system sounded crappy. So I started reading all these 2005 Mustang forums and learned a lot about the stereo system in the Mustang, and how other people have installed aftermarket stereos. So I check the stereo installation and found they had used the wrong wiring harness for the Sub-Woofer amps. They did some kind of hack wiring job and had wired it wrong. I got the right wiring harness and now the stereo sounds a lot better.

Okay, back to the dealer installed items. I check all our paperwork we got from Galpin and can't find any paperwork on the dealer installed items. Not good if the car gets totaled and we have no proof what was installed. So, we have no paperwork of what was installed or how much we were charged. Nothing on what happen to the old tires and rims or where is the old stereo they replaced. We paid for it. I think we should get it back. I call Walter a number of times, never calls me back. I talk to other people at Galpin, saying they will take care of the problem, but never hear anything back. I called Ford customer service and they said they will look into it but have heard anything yet. I still plan to keep pursuing this because I think I have a good case.

So I won't be buying another car from these guys. I'ved bought 3 other new cars and never felt so ripped off before. The other dealerships were very professional, friendly & helpful.
