tranny fluid

I thought Type F was spec'd for PS and vert top pumps only. Merc is what is called for, specifically, IIRC.

And yes they do recomend Mercon. But like I said yesterday you don't have any clutch packs to burn out in a standard trans so I guess you could get away by using other types of fluid. If you want Red Line it's D4 ATF. However GM Syncormesh is recomended by Tremec.

I think in all actuality, most of us are using Synthetics now, and most all of those meet the Mercon/Dexron requirements, so we don't even think about other fluid types like Type F. I have heard it may run better in automatics, but you obviously see an advantage to it in a manual -- what is it?

I found that Synthetic ATF works best in the T5. However Mercon V is the ford transmission fluid.
Does it really call for Mercon V? I know some of the AODE guys flush their systems and use MV as it helps with shudder and puter calibration, but do you see an issue with running the blend (Mercon V being a part synthetic) in a T5?
