Just wondering if anyone knows any good ways on getting tar and road grim off your tailpipes. I just cleaned and waxed the stang but i can't get the tailpipes any cleaner. I tried all kinds of products and what not but nothing seems to work????????

what he said. lol also use some blue coral chrome/metal polish.. with a rag.. let it sit on it for a while and you can actually chip the **** away with your fingernail.. then folow it up with some.. eagle one wadding polish.. NICE

can you take your pipes off? i have bassani so i can take em off and go to work on them in the garage..

use 600 grit sandpaper, then finish it off with some 2000 grit sandpaper, and some mother's mag and aluminum polish...and it will look brand new, as long as you have stainless tips....don't use the above procedure on chrome..

Sand paper...OMG! Just use Eagle one wadding polish and a good follow up like Mothers Billet polish. You can also use 0000 or 00000 FINE grain steel wool (sold at your local auto store). Just sray with bug N tar and go over it with the fine grain steel wool while its still dripping wet. Dry and Polish. The first choice is the best, but they both work great and after a good polish will net you a chrome look without sandpaper scratches.....lol

duh...2000 grit sandpaper is going to be finer than steel wool! have you ever tried sandpaper? I am not talking 50 grit...start with 600 or 800 then finish off with 2000...it will make it shine like new...try it, and you will see...how do you think you get curb rash out of polished rims? duh..

Gee, please explain to me what sandpaper is? Im not sure....I just see my brother using some hard scratchy paper on his frame off restorations?? Its not going to be finer than 00000!! I understand on fudged wheels, but its overkill on cleaning exhaust pipes, unless you just dont do it often.

Kerosene or paint thinner will work, use a terry cloth and let it sit for a minute. May require a bit more scrubbing than steel wool. I hosed off the tips and then used blue coral metal polish. Worked for me
