Cutting Rear Springs

Alright guys I cut 1 coil off of my front springs and it gave me a nice drop now I need to do the rear but the rear spring are conical as oppose to the front which are *cinlyndrical*. So my question is how can I cut the rear springs so the spring will still fit on the bout? Please no flaming comments about not cutting springs and all the jazz. Thanks

hmmm.... no way to do that with the rears. and really for the price you probally should just buy some rears. you might be able to just buy rears for reltivaly cheap for some magizine adds. probally 50-100 bucks.

I thought on the rears you have to cut from the top because that is where the dead coil is. I'm probably wrong though.

I cut one coil from the top of my back springs with no issues...

yeah i cut a coil or two or three off the top with no problems...

Right on so the trick is to cut from the top and not the bottom. Thanks guys

air powered cut off tool... one of your best friends in the garage

you cant use a plasma or a torch, as they will heat up the spring too much and mess it up.. the cut off tool wont get the spring that hot, so it is safe and it takes about 30 seconds to slice through a coil...
