I have a Edelbrock Performer EFI intake. My new combo is a little more agressive with TFS heads. It will be a street/strip setup with priority given to the strip. I have talked with TMOSS and he suggests just porting it and I belive he would make "the difference" but at the same time I am thinking I want the RPM upper since this engine will spin higher.

I could spend $130-150 for porting, then get the RPM upper which is $300, this adds up to $430-450.

I could sell it as is and get about $300-350 which would leave me only $200-$250 short of a new intake.

So buying new and selling old would actually be cheaper.

What would you do?

Sell it and buy a holley or an rpm II. Before I decided to go ahead and build a 347 I was going to do exactly what you are. A more aggressive 302 combo with the TFS heads, a healthy FTI cam and spin to around 6500. Ed suggested the rpm II or the holley. A dude over on corral, gray86hatch' runs a 302 with cleaned up tfs heads, FTI cam and an rpm II. He runs 11.60 @ 114ish with a C4.

The RPM upper is only about 1" shorter than the Performer - the real difference with either will be the porting, so if you keep your current intake, I would not buy an RPM upper.

Only 1" huh, that's not much at all. I guess I'll just think about it.

I would have the lower ported/RPM upper.

There are lots more factors on gray86hatch running what he does. Streetability/weight/gearing/traction/etc...etc. Not soley based on him having "to big" of an intake.

I need a better paying job:bang: (to many dreams)
