Yikes so as many of you know about a month ago i split my T-5s mainshaft right in half. So i bought a new one and fixed it. I put in a new clutch and guess what today was the end of its break in. So i decided to give it a little WOT time. I'm in 2nd and i hammer it go to hit 3rd as 6,100rpm rolls around and BBBOOOOMMMMMM! Clunking and grinding and ****. **** T-5s they are such **** trannys. Makes me want to damn puke.

So i took a deep breath muscled it into 1st and started driving again. I had about 17 miles to get back to the house, so i just said FCUK it i drove the whole way and just turned the radio waayyyy up to drown out the clunking :D . Well im pretty sure that i sheard the teeth off my 3rd gear. So ill take it out on monday after work and i dunno i could just fix it again with another 3rd but i think im just gonna go for the gusto and get a G-force kit, i cant drive my stang around being scared to punch it, i just cant.

My feelings=

Well i do the fixin on the T-5 its simple enough. I have a Spec 1 clutch on it. I was gonna do the Gforce, but i just remmeberd that you can only go with a 26 spline input shaft(AKA new clutch) i just got my clutch and i dont want to get a new one. I dunno, my dad has his Mach 1 in the garage now, hes doing an engine build and swap now so he is gonna have the slot for a few weeks. Oh well it will give me time to decide what im going to do.

You just need a new disk....they are $100 for the spec clutches.

Just think about the work/money involved in rebuilding it...only to have it break again soon. Then think if you were to put that money towards a gforce rebuild or something....do it right the first time. The only way i would suggest a rebuild is if money was REALLY tight or you were keeping it stock. But when you are modifying things and always lookin for more power, the weak t-5 will always give

Good luck bro

I just talked to you the other day and all was well. Sorry to hear about the break again. Interested to see what happened this time. I know it sucks, but what are you gonna do. I take it your suspension is on hold now eh....

It will all work out in the end I am sure. If all else fails, you can do your stuts, cc plates, and your welcome to my old springs. They gotta be stiffer than the old stockers you got. Let me know.

Give me a call when you got some time - started a new project myself. Car will be out of commission for a few weeks now. Maybe a month even.......

Damm man, seems like everyones mustang on this forum is giving their owner a hard time nowadays.
Lol actually its the owner giving the stang a hard time here, because i beat that tranny hard. Oh well im thinkin i might got TKO actually and just put an end to this tranny stuff.

Yeah all was well for about a week and a half lol. Oh cool, ill call u tommmarow and see what the new project is.

Time for a TKO I see. May not be a bad idea. Salvage what you can, sell it, and get something strong. Your makin good power with your combo, and it will just increase. Time to put the power to good use. The T5 just aint cuttin it. I should be home all day tomarrow. If not I will have my cell on me. Talk soon JP.......

wow man....that is really strange......are you sure that you put it back togther 100% correct? like all the shims, etc are correct? I ask because after i rebuilt my t-5 its given me NO problems and it lasted 110,000 miles before i rebuilt it. Dont think i baby it, but i dont powershift, and i never had a problem.

I just did the same thing with my T45, thrashed 3rd gear, sounded like rocks are in there getting throw around. The T5 and T45 are ****ing joke transmissions, I hate how weak they are.

I thought the T-45 was a pretty strong tranny.... I've actually heard of some guys custom fabbing a bellhousing adaptor to adapt the T-45 to their SBF. I never figured out why.... but they said it was stronger and shifted better. I know the '98 Ranger I used to have had a T-45 with a '95 Cobra engine. (previous owner did the swap). The guy that did the swap had custom made an adapter, but I never asked him why...... I always thought it was a "fitting in the truck" issue until I heard of others doing it.....

Nevertheless...... stronger will be better, whether it's a TKO or you go the G-Force route.
