Do I need a trans cooler if I do the Jerry Mod?

I read in a post somewhere that if you are doing the Jerry mod to an AODE that you have to have a trans cooler, but I don't remember the orginal instructions saying that you absolutely need one. Can I get by without a cooler for now?

Whats the Jerry Mod???

I know it's a good mod, but I'm just doing a fluid flush and a maybe the jerry mod to the trans on my dad's car and he really doesn't want to spend much money on it. So if I don't need the cooler then I'm not going to use it, but if I really do need on then I'll either get one or just not do the mod.

The Jerry mod is a modification you can do to the valve body of your AODE or 4R70W trans that will make it shift hard and fast without destroying your trans like a shift kit will. Shiftkits like TransGo and others are notorious for causing problems in the AODE and 4R transmissions. The Jerry mod is named after Jerry Wroblewski not sure on that last name spelling, but he was one of the engineers at Ford who designed these transmissions and he devised a method to make them shift faster and harder based on engine power output that will not harm the transmission. It's a great mod and tons of people have done it without any trouble at all. the best part about it is virtually a free modification you can do at home with a few tools, a couple new gaskets, and new trans fluid and filter.

A tranny cooler is key to prolonging the life of the transmission, xpecially when putting more power to it or increasing fluid pressure and speed. heat kills trannys.

It is a worth while investment for a cooler. Takes almost not time to install and only requires a qrt or 2 of fluid more then stock.

#1 recommendation for a auto tranny.

Thanks for the easy to understand explaination.
