I need to fix the wiper area on my car when the hood flew up and banged everything in. I am buying a new cowl cover but are there any tricks? It looks like i'm gonna have to cut the old piece out but then I cant figure out how to put a new one in. Also I was looking on ebay and saw they have fiberglass covers and I was wondering if anyone has bought them before? Do they look ok or are they gay? Will it be able to hide the messed up wiper area of the car? Thanks in advance.

The cowl panel comes off real easy. If your asking this i assume your pretty novice or not very good with tools.

If your sheetmetal around the cowl is smashed, its hard to fix, as there isnt anything to pop it off. Unless you cut it off and weld it back on.

Pop off your wipers, unscrew the cowl, unhook your wiper wash squirter and your done.

The wipers can be tricky for some people. All you do is pull the arm back (its spring loaded) and slid the clip out tword the windshield.

Ive seen a few different style cowls. I think that if your mustang isnt "riced" out, then the stock cowl is the best looking without a doubt.

Thanks for that link Dan. It really opens my eyes to what I would have to do. I dunno if I'll try to do that one since its my daily driver and I dont have access to welding tools. I had a place quote me $550 to fix and repaint the area but I thought that was a little pricey. Sigh...what to do, what to do.

at $45 or $50 an hour, plus paint, thats not a horrible price, but it is a little steep. No matter how you fix it, with a dent puller, or by cutting the entire section out and welding it, its going to look alot worse before it gets better, and u might wanna leave it to someone with experiance who can do the entire job all at once.

I have a frame straightener that I used :nonono: both times on mine. It has an attachment that looks like two hands that seperate and look like a ducks bill. That plus blocks positioned correctly and you couldn't tell at all. The second time I was going a whole bunch faster didn't mess with it too long afterwards. Its still pretty bad.

Maybe I should take another ride up there, this time when we can maybe do some more on my car and your car, if you need some hands. I'm gonna try my luck at one more turbo and this time i'll have professional help. I'm also gonna drop my oil pan to see if there is any crap in the bottom. Actually, you may not want my hands in anything b/c it seems I have the touch of death.
