It seems like it warms up and then quits and has no spark outa the coil. but cools down and runs

I tried a known good coil and control module aswell as a coil wire. It has power to the coil and power to the control module.

is there anyway to test the magnetic pickup inside the distributer? I just replaced it today and its running and hasnt quit since but its hard to diagnose a intermittent problem.

I don't know what you'd test for across the stator inside the distributor resistance? continuity? Using the starter to turn it over and multimeter across the stator? probably wouldnt tell you much any way since it would only be spinning at starter speed if it's cracked or has heat issues? Sounds like you T/S the prob with success if it's still running!! :nice:
