I couldn't resist gloating a little with this post... I just traded my 05 V6 vert for a 05 GT vert and couldn't be happier! I've had a lot of problems and disappointments with my V6 and am happy to join the proud owners of the "true" Mustang. I know, I know.. I'm totally flaming here but damn what a difference a V8 makes!!! :nice:

"True" mustang? I guess when the cobra comes out that will be the new "true" mustang and the GT will be for wimps.

While I think the GT would be cool, the v6 is more economical overall and the most logical choice for someone who doesn't want to spend over $25,000. At the end of the day, it is a car that gets you from point A to point B. Everyone has a different preference for what the car is for them, so why not respect that and the car they choose? Maybe some people think the v6 is the "true" perfection car in that it could possibly be seen as a mix between economical and power.

In the end, a mustang is a mustang and is offered in different engine sizes and performance to meet the individual's needs and preference. Some people could care less about a v8 due to the amount of gas it guzzles and sees the v6 as a good car that is quick for a v6. If you want a "true muscle mustang" you will get the Shelby Cobra, not the GT. Now that is a true muscle car.

It was just a joke - I've been through a rough experience with my former V6. The new GT is black with a tan top and tan leather. All Mustangs are real Mustangs - they're all beautiful cars and I'm proud that America makes 'em! I completely agree that the V6 is more economical. I just had a lot of problems with mine and I hope it's not something anyone else has to go through.

Cheers,
David

Hey theres nothing wrong with a sporty V6, my 92 Stealth SOHC V6 may not be the fastest thing around but its quick, responsive and fun to drive, but that said Id still take the GT V8!! Congrats on the new car :nice:

Thanks Angelmav! My last car (well, before the brief stint with the V6 'stang) was a 350Z. It had an excellent 287hp 3.5L V6. That being said the GT's V8 feels stronger (and doesn't require premium ga$). I just completed my first commute with it this morning and it was amazing. The exhaust sounded great in the garage at my work!

So, according to your logic

The V6 is the perfect car
The Shelby Cobra is the true muscle
and the GT is for wimps

Your logic is flawed.

According to you logic, the car with a mix of economy and power is the perfect car, and since the GT has much better econonmy by costing over $17K less than the Shelby, and having more power than the V6, the GT would be the perfect blend of performance, econonmy, and power between the 3 models.

You just can't say the GT is for wimps, when it has more power than the V6, and then in the next line say the V6 is perfect.

Bite ME  :flag:

So far I think I am getting better gas mileage with my V8 than I ever got with my V6 (both verts, both auto, both premium). At peak I averaged 21mpg on the highway with the V6. I have about 80 miles on the car so far and have used a quarter tank of gas. I'm not sure what that amounts to in mpg yet until I go fill it up but I recall that I would only get about 125 miles to the half tank in the V6.

I also agree that the GT is worth the extra money for the performance, sound, and pure driving pleasure of a 300hp engine. It seems to sit a little lower than the V6 vert did (might be my imagination) and it def. corners better. The perforated leather is also higher quality than the leather that was in my V6.

I got just about what I owed for my V6 because I was going to lemon law it anyway. It was a unique situation - typically I'm seeing offers of 20-22k for a used V6 vert from dealers, however I got substantially more because of the problems I was having and that the GM of the dealership wanted to make it go away. I got my GT vert for MSRP.

Suckers pay sticker :D but enjoy the car. I like them :D

Sticker was fine by me considering that the GT verts you can find in my area are going for $2000-$3000 above MSRP.
That's becausse there are plenty of fools willing to be ripped off. Sucks for you guys w/no patience. :)

LOL.... :rlaugh: This was all in good fun with David (blk05vert)....He and I just completed a nearly 1 week indepth love-fest trying to figure out how to get his situation resolved. So, he had this one coming to him..... LOL.... :p

Isn't that right, Sir David of the "Real" Mustang.... In all fairness to him, he had just gone through some hell to get rid of a car that was looking to be a bad fruit in the bunch. In the end he not only got his V-6 replaced, he got a V-8 in exchange for his silence on Mr. Ernest Harie III's underwear size..... LOL..... (see this thread for his plight http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=549381&page=1&pp=25)....
