Guys, whats the limit i should shift this car at? This is my 1st car and also my 1st manual car :rlaugh: Whenever i get to drive it.. i usually shift @ 2k for EVERY single shift =( I was told not to go above 2k and when i went to 2500RPM i was told to bring it back down. So thats right.. i shift 1-5 @ 2k and its stays stable @ 2k while crusing in 5th gear down the highway. So is it safe to shift stock mustangs @ higher rpms or would i need mods to shift higher.

=( Sorry, im such a noob @ manuals and stangs. :flag: :owned:

P.S. and no the person telling me to shift @ 2k is not doing sayin it for my saftey.. he also shifts @ 2k while driving the car by engine raising with the ear. :spot:

tell great grand pappy it ok to go over 2k rpms now :D
you should be shifting @ 4-5k when normal driving and 5500 -6000 when getting on it. Plus it sounds much better in the upper rpm's.

Sometimes when i'm in a good mood, i roll out 1st and 2nd gear to 3500RPM just to hear the revs climb.

I usually try to shift around 2000-2500 to save gas.

When racing, i go to 5500.

normal driving you can shift around 2k and you will accelerate just fine...if you feel like playing, romp it whenever you want...though winding out 3rd and 4th will result in extremely high rates of speed :D haha

its funny because i once drove my uncles 300ZX and i just tooled around, shifting around the same point i would in my mustang...and i was like DAMN this thing is SLOW...but then i realized...duh...small high revving V6...so i romped it and then it took off pretty well haha

Man!! 2k? Now that's alright for saving gas, but how in the world are you going to drive a mustang below 2k all the time?

It will not damage your car. As long as you arent HARD on it (a big difference), the difference in wear between low RPM and high rpm is very miniscule. What you are losing there is GAS MILEAGE! I'm not saying go to 5500 every shift, but you're also not going to blow your engine if you do hit that every once in a while. 2-3k average driving is the norm.

yea this is the second time i red lined the cra pout of it with out hitting the limiter. the limiter was never changed, i bought the car brand new, 6600 rpm and i didnt hit it. somthing is not right . i posted about this a long time ago, the last time i reved too high. im scared i did damage now.
