What is everyones opinion about Mac cat back exhaust? I want to purchase a catback system very soon! I have already got the Mac cold air fender wall kit and I am pleased with that so I am just curious what you all have to say about thier exhaust.

I have an entire Mac exhuast system. The sound and power are both great. However, rust does become an issue with the Mac performance exhuast setups. Not to mention Mac's customer service leaves a lot to be desired. If I were you, I'de go with either the SLP, Magnaflow, or Dynomax Bullet catback setup. Each will give max flow and since all are made of stainless steel, no need to worry about rust issues in the future.

MAC = AWESOME

easy to install, great fitment, and a KILLER sound ESPECIALLY with an X pipe or Pro-Chamber. the MAC mufflers rap pretty good when combined with an off road H pipe but it still sounds cool

mac=A+ from me

slp,magnaflow or dynomax all sound like garbage in my opinion........I'd go with a chambered muffler. Less flow but much better sound.

Just bought magnaflow magna pack exhaust $360.00 to my house

magnapacks IMO make the car burble too much...sounds like its underwater...i had them on my 97 cobra and hated them...

a chambered muffler will sound more agressive than a straight-thru muffler...dynomax and magnaflow both have more mellow tones than the kick ass sounding flowmasters and MAC

Borla!!

MAC does sound pretty good, my friend has the mac cat back with the mac o/r h-pipe and it does sound pretty wicked; sounds like it has a mild cam in it.

In my opinion, if you want something that will sound good, but not give you too much attention get the borla.

EDIT: do your homework. Find as many sound clips as you can, go to the local racetrack and meet fellow stang owners. Its the only way you will get a true ear for the noise.

Just get the off road H pipe by mac then get original 40 series flowmasters cant go wrong with that combo. It will be loud though! :nice:

Go stainless. anyone who is a mac lover probably has not had the kit long enough.

I avoid chome on exhaust like the plauge.

sound wise just go to mustangexhaust.com. they have almost every combo.

I prefer borla, magnaflow, bassani, ultraflow(if you want aluminized) without cats.

if you keep the cats then get a louder catback. like loudmouth, magnapack, race bullets, borla stinger.

their tailpipes are no longer chrome, they are now stainless steel and are coated in their "Dura Black" coating to last longer...you cant go wrong with a MAC system these days, they go together sooo easily and the price is great. i did have the chrome tails on my car, but keeping them clean was all it took to keep them looking great

to me, borla sounds weird (almost on the exotic side) magnaflow just sounds like junk, very muffled, bassani sounds great but costs SO much, and dynomax ultra flows dont have a distinct sound of their own, they are easily mistaken for other mufflers.

but as a warning, DEFINITELY do as hognutz says and keep your cats if you get an SLP or Magnapack system. The car will be so loud w/o cats that you cant talk inside the car without yelling. I know, I drove my buddies 03 with O/R X pipe and Magnapacks. I could literally hear him leaving his house 2 miles away across a lake and thru woods

Yeah, for that deep what the hell is that sound, go with maybe a UPR or Dr. Gas X with the MAC catback. For a backup sound of how that combo sounds, check out that gonein10secs clip. Good God Man!!!!

I like my MAC setup on my '90 GT, bu ton my '98 I too have the MagnaFlow cat-back. I don't have the MagnaPak's though. I have the regular kind. Sometimes (actually most of the time) they are too quiet, sometimes just right.

Stainless is definitely the way to go.

I am planning to solve the sound level thing by putting 2 stainless MAC mufflers (from our very own Parts Shopper) into my stainless Magna Flow system.

exhaust clip

this is my car with full mac exhaust & vt stage 1 cams. i've had it one this cara since the 1st month i had the car with no complaints at all. & as far as their customer service goes i couldn't be happier with them either. i had a problem with the drivers side header & they overnighted me a new one so i could get it on :nice:

btw - this is the 3rd mac setup i've had

COngrats!! Dont pay attention to the haters (quick91- Im looking in your direction)

The Magnapacks are one of if not the best sounding exhausts out there on a 4.6

I think this guy is like a rep from magnaflow or is just really obsessed with magnaflow. Look at his sig, I dont see anybody else having a sig that pretty much ejaculates to an exhaust in words. IMHO MAC has the best sounding catback on the market, I've got flows and they sound good its not worth changing over to MAC from flows but if I did it all over again I would go with MAC.

MAC LT's + MAC O/R H-pipe + MAC catback = :drool: :drool: :drool:

look at me all you want...magnapacks make the car burble and sound like its underwater...its as if the mufflers are creating the sound, rather than enhancing the natural muscular sound of the car :D

I had a Mac cat back on my old stang and the chrome pipes rusted in about a year or so. I sent Mac a letter with a couple pics and my receipt and they shipped me a brand new set of tailpipes the next day, unsolicited and free of charge. I think they sound great if you like the deep sound. I personally wished I went with Flowmasters, and have on the last two stangs. (People are very divided on this subject, either the old school setups like Mac and Flows or new school stuff like Magnaflow and Spintech, so form your own opinions based on sound clips, etc.)
