Tranny Governor ?

I have a stock AOD tranny and its shifting out a little too quick when your on the gas. I've heard you can put a pickup truck governor on it and it will give more RPM before shifting.
Has anyone tried this?
I didn't realize you couldn't shift through the gears on a AOD before I put it in.

Thanks for any reply's

I'm no expert on AOD's, but I don't think the governor has much to do with it, it doesn't on C4's anyway. I'd look into a shift kit or valve body swap that would allow for manual shift control.

Thanks Hueypilot,

I should re-adjust but when I first put it in everyone I talked to said you shouldn't go very far either way with the tv cable or it would damage the tranny. I think I set it at wide open throttle, I'd have to go back and find my notes on how to do it.

Thanks again,
Mark

Visit the "Lentech" website for proper adjustment procedure.

truck governor

my tranny guy was talking that he might have to put one of those on my C4 when he rebuilt it and installed a shift kit.

what he was worried about was there not being enough vacumm to the governor with the cam i had installed.....

fortunately it worked fine with standard governor.................

fwiw................i don't know anything except having that conversation

the governor is not affected in any way by vacuum, you're thinking of the modulator valve.
AOD's however do not have a modulator valve, they rely on the TV cable and valve body circuitry to control shiftpoints.
