FORD FAMILY PLAN PUTS OUT THE WELCOME MAT; EMPLOYEE PRICING FOR FORD, LINCOLN, MERCURY
  • Ford, Lincoln and Mercury are announcing a new plan to offer employee discount pricing for customers who purchase a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury car, truck or SUV between July 6 and Aug.
  • The Ford Family Plan is designed to drive showroom traffic through the busy month of July, bringing more customers into the Ford family.
  • Ford, Lincoln and Mercury will combine the strength of their dealer bodies and advertising might to communicate an easy-to-underst and discount on a new Ford, Lincoln or Mercury.
DEARBORN, Mich., July 5, 2005 – Ford, Lincoln and Mercury are combining their strengths and welcoming all customers to the family in July by offering their highly prized employee discount pricing to everyone through the “Ford Family Plan.”

Beginning July 6, customers in the more than 4,000 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury showrooms across the U.S. will be eligible to receive the Ford employee discounted price on 2005 model cars, trucks and SUVs.

“The unique thing about Ford is that it’s a family company, and it’s that sense of family that makes us different,” says Steve Lyons, Ford group vice president, North America Marketing, Sales and Service. “The Ford Family Plan is a great deal with a clear, compelling message that shows customers how much we value their business.”

The Plan

The plan is simple to understand. All 2005 eligible models will be sold at or below the employee and retiree discount price less bonus customer cash incentives. Excluded from the plan are Ford trucks larger than F-350 and E-350, the Ford Mustang, Ford GT and Ford Escape Hybrid.

Beginning July 6, participating dealers will receive supplemental window stickers for all 2005 models outlining the MSRP, the employee discount and applicable cash rebates.

“The big benefits to consumers are a great deal that's easy to underst and and eliminates haggling, which is a huge plus for many people,” explains Lyons .

Advertising

For the first time, Ford, Lincoln and Mercury are combining their advertising might to communicate the new Ford Family Plan through advertising in print, television, radio and Internet.

Ford will promote the plan on its Web site www.ford.com and provide Ford Family Plan pricing for all vehicles in stock for individual dealer Web sites.

I guess this was expected, GM did not put the Corvette in their employee pricing campaign.

No way were they going to do the Mustang - it's selling as is with no rebates/special financing.

It's the only thing Ford's got right now that sells at MSRP easily with no incentives - just like the Vette.

When do you think we will see the first incentives on a GT Mustang? I was thinking this spring, but was obviously wrong, now I'm wondering if it won't be until spring 07. Given the number of 05's that didn't get built and will be re-ordered as 06's, then the 06's for people who were planning on waiting for the 06's because they didn't want to deal with the 'bugs" on a redesigned model, I don't think we will see any incentives on the GT 06 models.

A lot of people thought just like you. And there are still people here every once and a while. Who will say in a few months they'll have incentives. If you are going to wait until there are incentives. You might have paid off a car if you just paid full price.

Looking into my crystal ball, no earlier than 2007. :D

I just went out this weekend looking for GTs (semi-seriously) and nobody in the Denver area has a GT for sale on the lot, and very few V6s. One dealer told me they won't have any that aren't already sold for a year (probably full of crap, but that's what they said).

Best way to try and get a mustang is to order. As far as getting a good price that is a different story. I called every dealer in Arizona, and found 2 that would even consider A plan on my mustang. The dealer that I finally went with, said they may not offer A plan at all times on the Mustangs. According to the dealership, My car should be built in the begining to mid August, even though Robot lady from the 800# still could not find the info. Even at worst. Most dealers are selling at MSRP if you order. And if you get really lucky you can find on the lot at sticker. I turned down a Lime Green GT last month at sticker, because it was a slushbox.

jfischer phil long in the springs has a silver mustang GT there wanting 34,850 for, they have like a dozen v6 tho. If the 07 Shelby kicks up the interest there wont be any incentives for 07 either. I dont see any rebates on a mustang for awhile to come since there are going to be variations in the model years that are going to keep the interest high. If your looking for a deal on a mustang better look for an 04.

Does anyone know if this is truly the lowest A-plan prices, or is it the higher X-plan prices, or something else?

I don't know for sure, but someone I know just got back from a LM dealer (priced out both and Aviator and a LS) and said it is NOT true A plan pricing. The dealer holdback is added to the A plan and the rebates have been reduced so the pricing ends up being essentually the same as X plan pricing.

There arew plenty of GT's at Brandon Ford in Brandon Tampa!!

Yeah, I just checked their site and they have tons of them. There are none to be had in Denver though. Phil Long can bite me with $5,000+ over MSRP in Colorado Springs :)

This still doesn' compete with GM. We were in the market for new Expedition for my wife and went to our Ford dealer. We worked with them for 2 weeks trying to strike a deal. They came down $12k on a Limited. We were still able to get a Tahoe with more options for less money. If you are in the market for a gas guzzler now's the time to start striking deals

How nice of Ford to offer employee pricing on the cars nobody wants.

 So the 900,000+ F-Series they sold last year I guess is because nobody wants them! Yeah, I guess the mustang is the only vehicle that every person in the US wants.

I saw a lot full of '05s this week...

... in Blue Springs, MO (Kansas City suburb)... verts, GT's, V6's and more. I was there buying a new '05 F150 King Ranch pick up. I asked the salesman about all the Mustangs. He said: "We've scoured every small-town dealer in the midwest buying up every one we can find for MSRP. We're letting people walk out the door offering $3000 over MSRP. We're selling them as fast as we can buy them at $5000 over!"

So there ya go. Not only do you have to compete against every other retail buyer in North America- but against other Ford dealers as well who are using their computers to track down unsold units in Podunk America and gobbling them up at MSRP.

I saw a Torch red GT Vert on another dealer's lot and asked how they came by that unit. Answer: "We WON the right to buy it at a Kansas City area Ford zone dealer's meeting. It's like handing us $5,000!"

Mustangs are still heating up- not cooling off,

Steve

I was looking last week at Phil Long, and they said it is going to be awile, they are not even taking 05 orders anymore. I just got a 03 cobra there yesterday, what a HUGE difference from the old V6 I was driving!!!

I just noticed that the Ford's TV ads state, in the fine print at the bottom of the screen, that the Ford GT, Mustang, Escape Hybrid, etc are excluded.

However, Ford's radio ads say at the their end, the Mustang GT, Escape Hybrid, etc, are excluded. BTW, these appear to be Ford ads, and not some local dealer's ad.

So, which is it? Which Ford ad is right? Are V6 Mustangs excluded or not ?
