Well I did get everything back together last night, and she fired right up after setting the timing (manually with the crank, not fun). Had to set it with a light then. This morning I drove up to 50resto for a new MAF, and put it on and now she runs pretty good. Yall might have seen my power steering thread the other day, I put the pulley on backwards accidentally. I tried to take it back off with a gear puller, and it bent the pulley. So now I don't have power steering, so it's real hard to drive, but she does run. I have a rocker ticking, but I need to reset the lash in a couple days anyway, so I'm not real worried about it. That's about it. All in all the swap was real easy, I was surprised how easy it was (with the exception of the power steering problem).

BTW, was stangnet down for most of yesterday and this morning?

sweet man, glad to see youre done! yeah, i couldnt get on stangnet either for the past day or so, i think i shed a tear :( so how long till its all broken in?

they'll probably debate that for a while on here, but I set my limiter at 5500 and have been rodding on it since 100. Just make sure you do your first oil change after about 2 eng hours imao.

:rlaugh: will do TJ. I just gotta get the idle right, reconnect the power steering and check my MAF electronics and I should be good. That is until I have to pull the valve covers off the recheck the lash. I have 1 rocker ticking. :( Oh well, that's not hard at all.

congrats man.....its such an awesome feeling to put together a motor and actually have it run...the other nite i put together a SBC my dad had in the garage.....i didnt have to put it in any car, but it was just fun wrenching on it......we need track times!!!!!!!!!!! and some pics of the engine bay now!

Hopefully I can get out to the track next month. I took a bunch of pics along the way of my buildup, and I'll get some final ones tomorrow. I bought a new power steering pump, and it's painted black, MUCH nicer than the gray water stained metal piece of *****.

Congrats man.

Did you find your oil leak?

Oil leak? Did I mention an oil leak? Oh yea I think I did in that PM. Yea Mike forgot to tighten down 3 bolts on the oil pan (we loosened the front 3 on each side, I tightened mine down, he forgot his) and that's where the leak was from. No oil leaks now. :nice:

Not on hydrolic roller cams! :rlaugh: The reason why they do that with solid lifters is because it makes a surface and wears off some of the metal on the cam. Now just go out and step on it!

REALLY?!?! SWEET!!! That made my day! :D

Aren't you supposed to drive normal for the first 500 miles to break in the cam?
No thats Flat Tappet cams not Hydrolic Roller lifters like we have, there isnt a break in period on that. The only thing with a H/C/I that might need some sort of break in is the valve springs but even then doesn matter. I romped on my like 20 min after driving it around and making sure it was driving right.

Well the crap thing is, I had to use my stock MAF electronics with my C&L, and my stock MAF was going out and causing power losses a while back. So I don't think the stang is gonna be running up to par like it should. :( Guess only one way to find out.

The info about the cam break-in is correct (one would have already missed out on the correct idle for the break in though. One cant let it just idle. :) ).

But I would not beat the snot out of it till you let it all bed-in (new parts still need to get acquainted) and reset the lash.

Congrats bud! It sounds like you might have wanted to pick up a PP balancer at LRS while you were there though. :(

Very nice work Chris!
