After reading the myraid of threads with people being rammed by the State for speeding, I thought I'd post a thread for anyone interested in fighting fire with FIRE! In this thread, I've included steps you need to take to PREVENT a cop from ever having a chance to clock you. I've also included honest ticket prevention links that took me weeks to find after dredging through the thousands of commercially biased sites. I think everyone who enjoys their '05 and doesn't want to pay THOUSANDS of dollars for a momentary twitch of the accelerator should take these four steps to greatly minimize your chances of getting ticketed:

1. Get a GOOD radar detector. I recommend the Esocrt Passport 8500 X50 or the Valentine 1.

2. Get a GOOD laser jammer. A laser detector is USELESS. Once your detector goes off, YOU'VE BEEN CLOCKED. I recommend the Blinder Extreme, although even MORE effective jammers may be coming out very soon, such as Antilaser.

3. Purchase PROVEN laser countermeasures such as VEIL (applied to your headlights), and for those of us with front license plates, Lasershield. With a good laser jammer and these laser countermeasures, laser guns are useless against you unless you're 300 feet from the cop! (they usually clock you at 2800 feet)

4. BE VIGILANT! If you're speeding safely, check your mirrors periodically. Remember, there is no defense against VASCAR (average your speed between two points of reference) except for purchasing a scanner!

I've followed these four steps and I have a perfect record. I've gotten lots of dirty looks from cops, though. :D

If you do get pulled over, BE POLITE the officer is just doing his job try to remeber that.

If you do get stopped and you act like a DicK, that is the fastest way to ensure you get a ticket.

P.S. PORAQ/POA stickers help too.

Low-tech ideas:
1. Slow down if you see cops. (Duh!)
2. Keep a low profile, drive smooth & steady... sudden changes & loud noises attract unwanted attention.
3. If you get busted, pull over smoothly & safely. Stop & turn engine off.
4. Keep your hands on the wheel. Turn on interior light if it's night.
5. Do not get out of the car. Wait for the Officer to tell you what to do.
6. If you can say "Sir" without sounding like a wisea$$, that's a good thing.
7. If you're a girl and you start crying, that's a good thing.
8. If you're a guy and you start crying, you're screwed.
9. Ask for a break. You might get it.
10. Once the Officer starts writing, you're screwed.

:stupid: You sir are absolutely correct.

I believe jammers are illegal in many states.

LASER JAMMERS are NOT illegal in ANY states except for VA. A cop who tells you any different is flat out lying and hoping that you are ignorant of the law. Radar detectors are ALSO illegal in VA. Now RADAR JAMMERS, on the other hand, ARE illegal in all 50 states and a five-figure fine. It's a federal offense to operate one, punishable by up to one year in jail. But radar jammers are not needed, anyway. A good radar detector will give you TONS of time to slow down, as will a good laser jammer. :)

This is from a 2004 motor trend article

Jurisdictional Notes
The state of Virginia, the District of Columbia, and most of the Canadian provinces ban the use of radar/laser detectors. To enforce these laws, all these jurisdictions have deployed radar-detector detectors (RDD) to sniff out vehicles using radar/laser detectors. The first units went by the name of VG-2 and could detect the local oscillator emissions of traditional radar detectors. This forced detector manufacturers to change their designs to conceal these emissions, thus making them invisible to the VG-2 RDDs.

There are federal statutes that make radar jammers illegal in all 50 states. California, Minnesota, and Utah specifically ban radar and laser jammers. (Radar jammers are banned by state law in the following states; Nebraska, Minnestota, Oklhoma, Virginia, Washington DC North Carolina, California and Utah) It's possible that laser jammers may become outlawed soon in other states as well. Long-haul professionals get no break atall: Since February 1995, radar detectors have been banned in 18-wheel commercial vehicles in all 50 states.

Well, I thought when I said VA, that DC would have been assumed as well. I stand corrected on the laser jammer laws.

But my point still stands. In 95% of the USA, it's perfectly legal to own and operate radar detectors and laser jammers, as well as apply laser countermeasures such as VEIL and Lasershield. A LEO has absolutely no right to confiscate your equipment for ANY reason, unless you're in a state that outlaws them or you're throwing it at them, lol. :)

Do you have any pics of the blinder m20 extreme?? Did you have to cut the grille to mount it? Where is yours mounted? The 2 front led emitters look kinda big, and the 05 mustang doesn't seem like it has a good place to mount it without cutting the grill, show me how its done cuz I want one!!

According to RadarBusters.com:

Three states have banned ownership, sale and use of laser jammers. These states are Minnesota (Minnesota Statutes 2002, 169.14) California (Sec. 1, Ch 493.28150, effective January 1999) and Utah (C. 41-6-52.7, 1998)

Radar jammers just became illegal in Colorado on July 1st as well :(

You mean laser jammers, don't you? Radar jammers are illegal in all 50 states. It's a federal law.

Not sure about Federal law on this issue, but the Colorado law that just went into effect is about radar:

(a) NO PERSON SHALL USE, POSSESS, OR SELL A RADAR JAMMING DEVICE.

(b) NO PERSON SHALL OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE WITH A RADAR JAMMING DEVICE IN THE MOTOR VEHICLE.

(2) (a) FOR PURPOSES OF THIS SECTION, "RADAR JAMMING DEVICE" MEANS ANY ACTIVE OR PASSIVE DEVICE, INSTRUMENT, MECHANISM, OR EQUIPMENT THAT IS DESIGNED OR INTENDED TO INTERFERE WITH, DISRUPT, OR SCRAMBLE THE RADAR OR LASER THAT IS USED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AND PEACE OFFICERS TO MEASURE THE SPEED OF MOTOR VEHICLES. "RADAR JAMMING DEVICE" INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO DEVICES COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS "JAMMERS" OR "SCRAMBLERS".

Perhaps radar jammers are illegal under FCC guidelines and this just makes it easier for police officers to nail you on it, I don't know.

Sometimes this can be a good thing, but I have heard that more times than not it is a bad thing. Depends on the cop I guess  .

I've been fortunate to train dozens of law enforcement officers over the years. They have all said they will absolutely write a ticket to a girl who is crying. Even if they approach the car with the idea of just giving a warning, they will absolutely write a crying driver.

Again, I'm sure it depends on the cops. But I have never found an exception to this.
