This winter im definetly adding a new stall to my AOD, as well as a Transgo and cooler, this should really help my struggling 60ft times!! 2.1s and 2.2s. Anyways, i wanted to see what kind of converters you are using, what brand, what stall, and how much did it help you out?? Im looking at Edge's Mild Street 2600rpm stall, it would be perfect if i could get it to stall at that rpm but ive heard sometimes people can barely get 2000 rpm out of a 2400 rpm stall. Ive heard great stuff about edge and perfromace Automatic, anybody else i should check into or avoid, need lots of info here!!!!

Stay away from Transgo!! I burnt my new OD band in one month because the damn thing shifted into OD from D. Try to find a kit that doesnt have that option. Better yet, go with a manual valvebody. Im using a 9" 3000 stall converter. Thing is awesome, I just cant use it to its full potential till I throw on some drag radials. Im running 2.0 60 foots on street radials, but I have to ease into the gas to launch. I want to launch it at 3000 but I will hit the wall if I do. You have to remember to match the converter with the capabilites of your powerband.

I'd suggest giving Lenny a call at www.ultimateconverter.com
Tell him your combo and what you want to do. He'll set you up.
Now I use mine for race only and it has a transbrake. Lately I've been footbraking it and been getting better RT's. Think the transbrake needs a looking into.
But mine is an 8 inch and it stalls 5100 on the brake and 2800 footbraking it. I ran a 5 speed last year in Factory Stock and my best 60ft was a 1.61 on BFG drag radials. Since I put the AOD in and the motor is a stock rebuilt short block with GT40's and a Factory Stock cam, I've had a 1.71 and lifting the left front wheel.
Here's a pic from the Maple Grove NMRA event with me footbraking it.

Id like to hear from the guys who have 2400 - 3000 rpm stalls. What are you guys able to launch at at the strip?? Im seriously considering Edges "Mild Street" its a 2600rpm stall and the guy said its good for 450-475 HP which is right about my goal for the car. Im not looking for an all out drag car, just enough stall to net me a sub 2.0 60ft time, will a 2600 rpm stall do that for me????

Go 3000 stall or go home. 2400 - 2600 stall isnt even good enough for a stock car. Trust me, i have one of the street edge converters. Its nice but nowhere near what a 5.0 needs. Especially if u EVER plan on installing a cam, you need the stall. But even with the stock cam you'd get best results launching at 3k since its closer to the tq peak.
