Cam/Intake/Carb for my N/A 347......

My car is a 89 LX Vert with a T5, 3.55 gear, soon to be 347 11.1CR shortblock with Thumper heads.

My expectations are as follows.... 1) Fair weather weekend cruiser with occasional jaunts down the 1/4 2) I want a radical idle with big top end power 3) Still need to keep it fairly driveable.

The 3.55s and Thumpers are staying for now. I also have a set of Crane 1.7RRs.

My Old School buddy says go big on the cam and get the Revs high. Power range 3000 - 7000 RPMs.

Do I go Roller or Non-Roller on the cam ?? What intake ?? What size carb ??

Advice please !!

Get a custom cam from cam research, 1-303-762-0022. Holley 750 DP and a victor jr should feed your 347 well at high rpm's. I would seriously consider a solid lifter setup. It's not a daily driver so adjustments will be infrequent, and no hydraulic lifter holds a candle to a solid at high rpm's, and nothing idles like a solid either. A solid sounds like you mean serious business.

With the 347 Setup i was going to build, i was going to go with the Victor Jr intake, a Demon 650, and a custom ground cam that was similiar to the comp cams 282HR. I was going to go with a hydrolic roller setup. Also the AFR 185cc heads.

Wouldn't a 750 be to big for a 347 ??

I know a double pumper would be great for WOT, but wouldn't it be too much for the street ??

How often would Solid lifter setups "NEED" to be adjusted ??

You'll need a BIG cam. :)

Example:Comp Cams solid roller cam .613In/Ex 264In/Ex 110* (Magnum 31-761-8)
Comp Cams solid flat tappet .541In/.522Ex 242In/246Ex 106* (Drag race 31-639-5)

Thats what it shows for cam in the 3000-7000rpm range.

Notice thou, that the flat tappet is smaller and cheap to buy.And thats what you would go with for a solid cam.
