Paint Blemishes

I have an 05 GT with about 350 miles on it, just delievered last month. Anyway the orange peel is terrible which I can live with but after waxing it last night I found at least 3 or 4 spots that appear to be something small under the paint (sand like spots in the actual paint). Anyone else have blemishes in their paint like this? The other weird thing is I didn't notice it until now, even when claying the car after delivery.

05gt,

yep I have found two places where I see like a little grain of sand in the paint. kind of weird for a new car.

the other thing I noticed, is on the reflective side and rear lens to the car look like they were carelessly broken off of a plastic mold. the only way I can describe it is it reminds me of breaking off a little plastic model car part off of the plastic thing and a "scar" being left on the piece.

It is rather irritating...I've got a fair amount of orange peel, but it's pretty subtle. I'm pretty sure the little spot you refer to is called fish eye. Just another flaw that sometimes appears during the painting process. I have two tiny spots of fish eye on mine. Oh well, I still love her! :p

Yeah why aren't those mirrors painted. They are poured out of a mold, look at the underneath of em. Big hole under there.

The plastic on my keys is flaking off. Its very cheap plastic. I noticed the console is the same stuff. I am very unimpressed with the quality of the plastic.

My rear bumper isn't on right, and it had a piece of 'model plastic', as you say, hanging off of it. The closer you look the more 'quality issues' you will find.

That's when I put the top down and wind the engine thru the gears and forget about the paint or the bumper.

The "flash" is pretty minor, I'll agree. but I have never seen, after owning more than 20 cars of all different makes (and 5 mustangs), little pieces of sand in the paint, or have the "flash" on plastic lens. still love the car, but quality issues, mine didnt get built to april, are still puzzling.

I agree mine was built in May and I am disappointed in the quality issues especially with the paint. My right muffler/tip was also on very crooked as well.

Good point, after a spirited drive I don't even think about the quality issues. :nice:

I just got mine back from the body shop, had a CDC ducktail painted and installed. Had the same "little piece of sand in the paint". They were able to color-sand and polish, it looks perfect. Simple fix, didn't charge me
