SRT-4 can wax a '05 Mustang GT?

I've walked a couple of SRT4s but never bothered to post about it. It's still a neon so who cares. Any car can lose or win. Would I care if I lost to a Neon? No. Would I respect it more? No, because at the end of the day I will be driving my Stang and the other guy will still be driving a gay ass Neon. :notnice:

These Neon posts are becoming as bad as gear and exhaust threads. :nonono:

Stock for Stock I don't believe it.

I raced one with my '88 and hung with it, It beat me by like a car length and a half but it didn't pull much after that. This was from a roll. He definately got a fast pull on me though.

I really don't believe it. My cars abnormally faster than the bolt on 5.0's around here though.

You had a distinct advantage going 0-60 or even 20-60, a stock SRT4 has real traction issues off the line and in first gear. Once they hook they pull very hard to about 105-110 mph.
 
I don't own an 05 but I raced a completely stock brand new one a month back with my 94. I walked him everytime. I ran 9.0x's to his 9.1x's. He was a competition driver just trying out his new toy. That should give you an idea of how fast the 05 is in the 1/8th(typical stoplight race). Now the day I got my gears I ran into an srt-4. I ran him to 80 from a dig and he put 3 cars on me. I had a passenger but that can't account for 3 cars. He had full exhaust, computer and an upgraded BOV. I can guarentee that accounts for more than 3 cars. Therefore, should be a drivers race in the 05-srt-4 sho-down with the nod toward the 05.
 
i have an 04 gt 5spd with 4.10s intake, shifter and a catback , how would i do against a stock or close to stock srt-4?? and alot of races are a drivers race.. ive raced an 05 gt and beat it from a dead stop and a roll so its all driver, and that was with my stock 3.27s gears.. and 99-04 gts arent that much slower than a 05.. stock for stock
 
The amount of mods required to get that kind of power out of the SRT-4 greatly reduce the reliability. You can make power with most anything, but which one will still be around years from now? If you were to mod a 05 to the point that most of these teeny boppers do the ricers it would be untouchable.
 
I hate the stock for stock arguement. I go for dollar per dollar. Buy a new GT and throw on a blower and (or junkyard turbo kit if you are good), tune it and you have a monster for less than a stock SRT-4. Or bettern yet buy a Fox body and go nuts for waaaay less than an SRT4, but that's just me. Still, my motto always was and still is "Neons are for bitches"

The mopar stage 3 kit........ will make good reliable power for years to come

An SRT4 with this kit will destroy a 05 Mustang GT with basic bolt on's

Get your facts straight the SRT4 is a serious platform to build on...... I have seen the "big turbo" equiped ones destory even pullied Cobra's

I do not understand your post.......

A new GT is pushing 30K and a blower for it is another 5K, you can buy new SRT4's for 20K........

I think you have everything basically backwards
 
Lets just say the 2 are very different but if the drivers are equal, the 05' GT is faster than the SRT-4. I looked at both two weeks ago and ordered an 06' GT.

For the $26,500 I paid for the GT I could've bought an srt-4 with the stage 3 upgrades and been faster for the same $, but I think with stage 3 you lose all warranty. Speed wasn't the determining factor.

When it comes down to it no matter what you do the srt-4 is still a Neon. It may handle, accelerate, and stop better than any other Neon, but it is still a Neon. What a guy said earlier about not being able to "polish a turd" comes to mind. I also hate FF cars. I am not a Mustang nut, this is my first one. Honestly I only bought a Stang because there is no Camaro right now and I didn't want a rebadged Holden Monaro either.

Bottom line is the new GT is a better car than the srt-4. Especially when looks and build quality are important. No matter how fast an SRT-4 is I wouldn't really want one. If you find one that will outrun my 240SX we can talk.

agree...... the Mustang GT is a MUCH better car all around

I have my facts right any way you slice you have a high reving four cylinder pushed to the limits to meet the level of performance provided by a slightly modified naturally asperated V-8. Besides who will admit to owning the neon once the pass puberty.
