Hardtop or convertable SVT?

Hartop or Convertable / 2003 or 2004

Ok.....here is my issue. I'm in Iraq (again!), and my time is almost up. That means I need 2 decide what type (03 or 04) of SVT Cobra I want 2 get, quick. I know the convertable adds some weight, but are there any other disadvantages 2 it as well? Is the hardtop better or worse overall? It won't be raced hard or be a daily driver so ANY comments or sugestions will be helpful....so yeah, post away!

A convertable is easier to break into. Sooner or later they will leak. If you drive under a shower of sparks, like I once did,(couldn't help it.), you can get burn holes.

But I love them. Driving down the road with the top down is priceless.

I use my scooter (HD Sportster Custom) as my dd (back and forth to work), so I get to ride with "top down" everyday.

I did own a '97 vert which I loved, but at times feared someone would cut it, or having it tear or just wear out. Funny thing is I never put the top down. It's pretty hot down here and I wanted out of the sun when I drove it. And as I mentioned, I have a scooter for top down driving.

Good luck & best wishes. :flag:

Yeah, a vert in Texas is a lot of fun. Absolutely can't go wrong either way. Go test drive one and let your heart guide you. I can't think of anything that would be a disadvantage by going with a vert, but I'm prejudice. I'm on my 3rd clutch with 24,000 miles which is BAD, but I burnt 1 up by accident/stupidity on my part. Play with it at the local track about 3 outings a year , maybe 6 passes each trip, but the fun is out on the town, cruise'n round. If your in the military over there be safe and thanks for the job your doing in conditions that we back home can only imagine. Peace out.

I say get whichever model is the best deal. What makes these cars fun is not the color or the ragtop, but what's under the hood!

U.M.

I'm partial to White Hardtops myself though! They don't attract so much attention! 'Verts are a "Look at Me! Look at Me!" car.

i agree, i looked at an 03 silver vert 10th anniv. the other day, the sticker was a hair under 30k with 22k miles on it, i just cant see spending the extra money on something that i have no use for, or that only benifits me in the image dept, which has nothing to do with the true appeal of these cars in my opinion. if you want image, get vette or a hummer.
