I am pretty sure by the time the 8.8" rear came out, that all GTs had traction loc. I think that was made standard while the 7.5" rears were still being used.
Because, I don't know... lol. I had a bud do the gears and the topic of traclok never came up... and I didn't know about it at the time. I'll check to see if it's working, and if not... I guess I'll be taking the rearend apart.

As the old saying goes "What you don't know can really hurt your 60ft's"
I had my gears done at a Mustang shop (I didn't know how to do them at the time) and they never recomended it. I think a traction-loc rebuld kit should come with the gears. You don't have to take it apart. Remove the rear cover, remove the pin, remove the S-spring, remove the spyder gears, remove the side gears and clutches and plates. Install reverse of the removal.
I think it took me about two hours to install that spring when I rebuilt my 8.8. And mine was on a bench. I don't know if I would of even tried it if it were in the car.
mine just got 4.10 gears and trak-lok rebuild. What a difference from 2.73s. I also thought i had 3.08s, but i told them to save the old gears and i counted the splines.
