I've been reading about the xplan and see lots of controversy over it. Seems that some dealers take and some don't.

Questions: Do you have to have a family member or friend that works for Ford? Does a dealership count? Can you just go to service or sales and say, Hey there, wanna be my friend so I can get xplan pricing?

So this may sound stupid but I see lots of people that have bought/ordered under xplan. Do they all really have family working for Ford?

And before any scammers offer...NO, I will not PAY you for the xplan number, code or whatever-the-heck it is. Saw some guy in here offer to do that for $500. Don't know if he was serious, but I hope he was just kiddin.

Go to www.blueovalnews.com in the forums is a Topic titled "XPlan Pin requests" or something like that

Greetings-

The basic thing with X-Plan is that it is reserved for those related to Ford employees, or for employees of businesses that partner with Ford (i.e. if a business use Ford as their supplier for for it fleet trucks, or company cars). But recently, college grads have had access to it too. When I graduated college (eight years ago  ... Im getting old!) the Ford offer for a College Grad was $400 off the price of a new vehicle. When my wife graduated, we had no idea she was elgible, until the flyer came in the mail. I went nuts, because I'd seen X-Plan on these forums; I knew exactly what it was and just how much money it could potentially save us.

So that's half the equation. The other half is finding a dealer to take it :bang: The Mustang is not explicitly excluded from the X-Plan (unlike the Ford GT, F-450 and Higher, and King Ranch truck), but it is the dealer's option whether they want to take it or not. Given the popularity of the 'Stang, most won't, especially on a GT. The V6's are plentiful enough that you could likely swing it without too much difficulty, but it's hard to even find a GT on a lot right now. Plus, dealers are still getting above MSRP in some locales for the GT, so why sell the car at invoice if they can get $6000-$8000 more for it?

Finding a dealer that will do it may be tricky. You'll have to hunt around, maybe ask on these boards who's been to a dealer that was able to help them. I'd offer my dealer, except I had to drive out of state to get the plan and - from what I could tell - I think I got a hint they may not still be doing it (but if you want an honest and friendly dealer, I can certainly recommend them if you're interested).

FWIW, you'll note Ford's offering "Family Plan" pricing as an answer to GM's Employee discount for everyone. But wait... the Mustang is excluded on that offer. :( Oh well.

Good luck with your X-Plan.

I as able to get an x plan pin, off this website. Two dealers turned me down, and a small dealer took it. The two dealers who turned me down are gouging on their mustangs, the smaller dealer knew I was serious, and (I think) didn't want a sure sale walking out the door. One of the larger dealers even advertised "x plan buyers welcome" then told me they didn't have to honor "that". The salesman followed me out, telling me that "nobody will sell for that", I told him not to worry, someone would.
Anyway, I'm sure someone will offer you a pin number if you ask, all I am required to do is send him pictures when I get my car. Of course, if he is ever in Maine, he gets a lobster dinner.
Good luck,
Doc

X-plan is open to anyone who is simply a friend of a Ford employee too. Has been for a couple of years now. Ford actually rewards employees who "sell" a vehicle to a friend under this program. Last year, it was a dicast model of the Ford GT personally signed by Bill Ford. This year it is cash.

BTW, the X-plan has been open to certainly colleges too (students, alumni, faculty). Mostly, colleges that Ford itself is a major supporter.

I just happened to email a cool salesman at a dealer here in KC and he ordered me one at x-plan, I didn't have a PIN or anything. It was ordered in March, came in June 17th, I paid x-plan price, no hassles.

A plan is for close relatives. X plan is for friends. One of my students' father works for Ford. He is allowed a certain number of x plans per year. I gave her my address and Social Security number. She phoned her father. He made a call and in minutes had a PIN number which I gave to my dealer. That was it.

Thanks for all the replies.
I have been reading these and more info at blue oval.
There is even a place there where you can post that you need an xplan PIN and it seems someone will reply and give you one.
You do have to give your name, address and SSN.
I don't feel comfortable just giving that out to anyone on the net tho.
So, I think I will hold off unless I find someone that I KNOW who KNOWS someone.

Then, it seems like lots of dealers aren't taking them anyway.

Just on my fact-finding mission now. Not ready to order for a few months yet.

you DO NOT need your complete ss number, only the last 4 digits of your ss number, name, address, etc..........if someone is asking for the entire ss number tell them to pound salt
