Good luck to you man! 200mph sounds like a tough goal to reach but I think it's definitely possible.

For everyone saying "a couple of cobra's have done it..etc" keep in mind that those are 4v's and he wants to accomplish this with his 2v. Won't the fact of not having the 2 extra valves effect top end performance? (well, unless he crams some godzilla-ceiling-fan size turbo under the hood)

now with the power adders go for the biggest turbo you can find heck even twin turbo and the shot of nos. that a guaranteed 200mph run. mm&ff had that turbos can make 900hp on the v8 its all a matter of dialing in the motor tune and combine the with a dss block (some nice uber sweet engine management system :hail2: thing you would need to do is delete the ac run an electric pump. matched cams for the turbos port and polish where nessecary. :hail2: :hail2:

i have a friend well he's the shop foreman where i use to work he goes to the salt lakes in this weird looking thing that has 4 wheels. but it can' be done on a stock block he has 500+ CI motor and it is all forged and custom made internals for that block the valves, springs well everything so you will have to get a new block with strong internals if you want to hit 200mph but hey good luck with that.

you will need to change out the trenny to get there. the 03 cobra has a 6 speed with more gears and closer gearing to make more USABLE top end speed. the 94-98 cobras had a T5 so no overdrive gear. one large issue is that the T45/3650 in the 99-04 cars have an Od gear that will take a TON of power to get you to 200. so either more power or new tranny.

also, no i dont think you can do it with bolt ons and spraying. you could possibly do it with a turbo or a blower (centrifugal because of the higher RPM ability over the KB).

also with a lot of 94-98 cobras doing it, well one major factor is that their aerodynamics are vastly better. same reason both GTs of that time top out at the same speed stock. both run out of power to get farther even though the 94-98 had a good deal less power. that and the tranny difference again.

I think your tranny info is a little off here. The t5 actually has a taller overdrive than any of the other trannies you listed, at .68. The t45, 3650, and t56 in the cobra all have a final overdrive of .62 or .63. The t56 does have that extra gear to help in getting there, but the the top speed would not be any higher except with t5 or maybe the viper version of the t56, which I think has a final overdrive of .70

I recommend a parachute to help you stop.

Find out what Koenigsegg did. They took a 4.6L DOHC V8 with a centrifugal supercharger and ran 240+mph. In fact, they hold the record for the fastest production car in the world. I would find out what gears did they use in their transmission.

are you sure? i thought that the T5s had no OD at all, pretty much a standard step up from 1-5, as opposed to the 45/3650 which did have a true OD gear... i'll need to look into that one.

It can be done with the basic mods like someone posted, covering up the underside of the car, suspenion work also gonna need some big power 600 rwhp or so, 6spd some tall gears ,and a whole lot of trial and error.......oh ya some$$$,i seen trucks go ver 200 on discovery 226 mph actually, thats a pickup!!!diesel

Don't forget the new vette (with 400hp) can do 186mph out of the box. It can be done, but I'd be worried about it trying to fly... body kits won't work unless they were actually designed for downforce. Most of the ones you'll find are cosmetic.

no doubt lift off could be a problem, lowering the car obviously is a must i really dont think you need the stang to be alterd so much though..i mean its not as bad as a truck in terms of aerodynamics .... if you lived close to the flats go for it,dont try it on the highway...hehe

This is why I am asking... I wan't to do it. Salt flats is where it should happen. This is what I am doing to the car. Reinforcing the nose, a working air dam Cobra R OEM W/ all reinforcement hardware. ( After market does not have this....) I have the Cobra R rear wing. Pinned hood "a definate". Roll bars from ARP. One racing seat with harness.

Think it can be done??????

of course it can be done. SALEEN sells(i guess they still do) aero body parts. You will need a wind tunnel or some kind of pre-engineered package(gus that already do it). Drag is the square of velocity. the down force required to make that kind of speed safe and keep the front end pointed first is probably high. (who knows) If I was to try it i would err on the safe side. you can get a hold of someone that runs the SILVER STATE CLASSIC to find out more. My guess is a front splitter an nascar angled rear spoiler. heck the drag boys (real drag boys=pro) should know. THey run 200 all the time. the ferrari f-40 has 492 hp and won't quite go 200. that is my best guess. :nono:

Thanks for all the input Stangers! It all helps. Serious, I want to do it with the engine that came with my car...a 2V SOHC. He did it with a Cobra I am going to do it with a GT and set a goal for 204 mph. My engine only needs to do it once. That is if it survives, I think it will. After I achieve this goal with the 2V I am going to retire the gt motor and put a Ford Racing 5.0 Modular Cammer.

My original motor has been really good to me...It deserves to go out with a BANG at 200+.. Ya think. Besides I am 40 years old with nothing better to do than spend money on my Sonic Blue Gt Beast.

I also want to thank all you Stangers out there for the help and advice you have supplied to all of us.

Remember...Don't Speed......Just Fly Low!
