LOL yeah I called you that for trying to say I am insecure and for trying to say that Cobra owners will be like talking to their Wives and stuff about a 600 HP car. What do you expect. In one instance you insult me in another you say good things. I have no clue who you are but, most people down here like me. Go figure...

Cobra emblems I understand are a dime a dozen. Official Companies putting them on AND SVT badging AND calling it an 05 Cobra are what bother me.

I would imagine most Saleen owners would feel the same. Does Steve do anything about it? I will ask him the next time they have a Saleen show down here and he is here again.

Actually, I believe what I said was----

The point being, guys that drive Cobra's, who hate on GT owners that decide to put Cobra emblems on their cars are insecure..

But if the shoe fits, which based on you taking ownership of the statement, it must.. Where it! Is size 7 ok? :D

So far you have not listed a name at SVT and so far they have no clue whom you are and they are looking into it. The more you get on my ass, the more I am going to pursue this.

Why I am supposed to feel threatened by you? You don't mean anything to me other than just a guy with a negative opinion.

I have been working with SVT since 1995, I don't need YOU to check up on me, who I am, what I do, or who knows me at SVT. There are lots of people at SVT, and many of them have come and gone in the past 10 years. I'm sure there are plenty of people that work there that don't know about the car. What matters to me, is the important people DO know about the car, and like it.

I really could care less what you think. You don't like the car, fine, you are entitiled to feeling that way.

Ok, I'm not reading through all of that. Sorry, Ken.

However, my $.02, whether you want it or not: I think the car looks pretty good. I'm not sold on the all white wheels, but they're alright. I would drive one, but the first thing I would do is remove the stickers and the badges because THIS IS NOT A COBRA!!!!!

I also agree with Ken that I seriously doubt that SVT, let alone FoMoCo would allow you to do infringe upon their namesake. Essentially what you've done is steal their name and use if for your own gain. That generally isn't taken lightly.

:stupid: Sorry, don't mean you're stupid, but you said it plainer and more to the point than I could! :D

Ok guys, lets take it from the top.. For those who actually took the time to read the front page article, this is not news to you.. But for those seeking to draw blood from PowerSurge, please read this couple of paragraphs...

The most critical part is in the last few lines, of the last paragraph..

The 2005 Cobra. A car that Mustang enthusiasts were eagerly waiting for in conjunction with the release of the new 05 Mustang. But the car never came. Instead, Ford's Special Vehicle Team treated muscle car lovers with a new treat - the upcoming Shelby GT-500. However, that car is still a good amount of time away. Enter Power Surge Performance, a company best known for pioneering SVT Lightning aftermarket performance, and modular vehicle performance and tuning.
2005 SVT Cobra - The car that never was...

Salvatore Mennella, main man behind PSP, decided to build his own version of the car. "The 05 Mustang was the hot new car of the year, and we needed to get into that market", Sal says. "I wanted to get our own 05 test car, to develop tuning and performance products, but I also wanted to have a car that visually made a statement." And what a statement it has made so far. The car was debuted to the public at the 22nd Annual McCarville Ford Mustang Showdown, in Long Island, NY.

So being unvailed at the 22nd Annual McCarville Ford Mustang Showdown, means SVT and Ford know about this car..

__________________________________________________________________

So the fact that Sal took his very own Mustang GT, something he bought to provide guys like you and I better performance parts and help with our cars, is being slaughtered in prime time, and there aren't many people here who are willing to stick up for his R&D work.. The car on the front page is his own car for one.. But is also used in R&D to develope better products.. This car never was intended to be massed produced for public purchase.. Rather a true Ford Performance pioneer who used his own money and resources to make the world a better place for us Mustang owners.. Lord knows there are not that many performance cars the Mustang GT can beat bone stock.. Hell, it cant even beat the old Trans AM's and thats a damn shame..

To Sal, or Power Surge whichever you prefer my brotha, "Rock On!" man.. Please continue with your valuable work Sir!! I apologize for this, and have the courage to say whats right.. I am alittle dissapointed that most people just dont seem that concerned!

For one, I did read the whole article, and two, I never said anything about the quality of his work because I can't see the car in person. My argument is that calling it a Cobra is a farce. He's not creating a new car and he's not paying tribute to a certain model year because this model doesn't exist, and just because it was a big car show doesn't necessarily mean that Ford or SVT give it the thumbs up.

I know he doesn't have to prove anything to us, but if he wants to validate his claim, show some proof. How about a written release or contract. Hell, a photo with Hau Thai-Tang or Peter Marten standing next to the car proudly.

If he took the badges and the COBRA off the side, he'd still have a cool car and no flack to deal with. You can take a Fiero and make it look just like a Ferrari, but that doesn't make it one.

I unveiled my 2004 Mystic Cobra at the 1st Annual SoCalStangs poker run! Does that mean Ford/SVT knows about it and sponsored it?

Ford/SVT truly unveiled the 07 prototype. Now that is Ford unveiling a product. Not some shop owner making a fake Cobra and unveiling it at a local car show...

Shopowners take cars and do things to them. Nothing special about that, it is in their budget and part of advertising. You seem astonished at the fact he did that for some reason. The customers are paying for it! LOL

Yet another fake Cobra, what is sooo special about that??

Not sure if Ford can/will do something about it but, I will be making some calls to see.

Even if Cobra is not a TM, I know for sure SVT is and to put it on a non SVT engine seems pretty wrong to me.
Man, you have to be the biggest idiot in the stang world :notnice: ...thats why this guy has paid $30k plus for his mustang..TO DO WHATEVER THE **** HE WANTS WITH IT!!!..Little twats like you are so annoying...DA snake boy!!!

Real Constructive! Way to contribute to the debate.

That's what the Chineese are saying about out Copyright laws also. Kinda sucks....

How dare people have Trademarks and ****! What kind of World is this where we can't copy things that other people make!

Umm yeah, thanx Duane. I know you are mad at the SCS guys but, I never said a bad word to you. I actually thought you were pretty cool but, didn't want to get into the middle of that. You sure did piss off a lot of folks though. Oh well, I guess you won't be coming down to a meet anytime soon. Please do though, would like to meet you ;)

Oh god its the all knowing SCS members and all their "real Cobras" :bs: ...should have known....I'll say one thing about GT and V6 owner's, they are definately a ton cooler to hang out with than some up-tight cough cough SVT 4V'r owner that thinks his stang is so superior to anything that doesnt have "SVT" stamped on it  :notnice: ....Sorry to tell you but theyre all mustangs..you wanna real Cobra, either buy a 06 Shelby when it comes out, or shell out $100k and get yourself an old school Cobra, than maybe you can feel puffed up about yourself and think you and your Cobra is better than anyone else  ...Even the import ricers show more respect than you clowns...DA snake boy!!!

@PowerSurge

Once you finish up this particular project, have you considered doing a SuperCharged V6 05 Stang? If not, then why not?

This is my particular goal actually.. Maybe you could help out, or lend a hand.. But you have 2 choices of Eaton Blowers in which to choose from..

1. Eaton M90

2. Eaton M112

http://www.automotive.eaton.com/product/engine_controls/superchargers/M90.asp

When you do find time, if you can provide me with your thoughts and input I would appreciate it..

If your serious about getting into the Mustang performance arena, and its obvious by now, that you are clearly doing a good job, then consider also bringing the V6 Stangs into the mix..

Stock, the V6 Stang really packs a good punch.. What are your thoughts on this? This market is alot bigger than the V8 market currently, and I think you will find that a system which is priced right, would bring in alot more revenue, more frequently.. Thanks for your time!

Also, would you consider purchasing an 05 V6 Stang like you did with the GT for R&D work? This way, you can show us how you would do it.. Even if you just made a mounting bracket, manifold, and tube kit, this would help out alot..

Here is a shot of the manifold for the Eaton M90 Blower for the SOHC 4.0 V6 Mustang engine..

Well Duane, when I have my 07 then I will feel exactly how I feel now. Not sure how that will change anything.

As far as us Cobra owners, SCS members have a broad range of Mustangs. Lots of GT and V6 owners actually. And you are right, we ARE all cool to hang out with. How did you piss off all us cool people?Even yours was welcome. Go figure..

Anyways, thanks for your opinion on this. I know you would stay up all night replying to me so this will be my last post to you or about you. Have a nice day....

Just let it go Power Surge... Obviously this particular individual thinks that a Cobra Mustang is not a Mustang but a Cobra.. LOL!! Maybe someone should remind him what a real Cobra is.. I find this horrendous turn this thread has taken unbelievable..

Chupacabras

With all do respect, please re-evaluate your position on this situation.. I truley find it hard to believe that someone as important as you down in San Diego, who is affiliated with such a fine group of Mustang Zealots, has the point of view that you are presenting..

Lets just all step back away from this situation, and think about what it is exactly we are arguing about.. How could this have gotten so outta hand is beyond me..

How is it that you feel comfortable making statements like "painted wheels and ugly stripes and fake badges..."? Do you find this appropriate behavior? You are representing the San Diego Chapter of Mustangs, which is apart of a larger coalition of California Mustangs in total. Your making us Californians look very shallow minded.. It is right for you to say you disagree with the concept.. It is wrong for you to bring into the situation by representation the entire group of San Diego stang guys for which you have been chosen to speak for.. I think perhaps there is more to this.. I think perhaps you somehow feel threatend by a GT which has had its script flipped to resemble an 05 Cobra SVT Mustang.. Which I might add, has the power to back it up.. You know, its biting and not just barking... I know your probably a really kool guy to hang out with, for those who love Mustangs.. But ask yourself this question... If Sal were to show up by invitation to one of your sanctioned cruising sessions, would he not be respected for his vision? Can you honestly say that 90% of the guys in your car club, would share your view? You represent their mindset.. Is this whats hanging out down there in San Diego? I highly doubt it..

So take the time to look at it from a different point of view.. Power Surge has not challenged you in any way, the way you have challenged him..

I know your a more passionate man than this for Mustangs.. Have a cup of coffee, and some coffee cake, and comback with a reply that will more represent the appropriate point of view that most of your club members would be proud to present to Power Surge for his effort.. I know you can do it man.. Sometimes, we just get caught up in the moment, and due to our competitive nature wind up in positions we did not intend to be in.. As the Director of the San Diego Chapter of Mustangs, you are compelled to act alittle more responsible with your arguements.. Shooting from the hip is not allowed.. Speaking for the greater good of the club must be your first and foremost position..

In regards to the Bay Area Chapter, I'll PM you when I get my GT500 once things cool off with them.. LOL!! But I can tell your gonna always be on my ass about everything!. Not really a responsibilty I am looking forward to..
nicely put :D ...but he's making himself look bad, not other california stang owner's, trust me his type are the minority out here...BTW sorry for coming on strong in this thread...

Mr MPH your ride looks great, and Im sure youve given a lot of the 05 owners a ton of ideas..its people like you that make the stang world very enjoyable....DA snake boy!!!

No prob...my hats off to Mr. Power Surge and all his hard work...AWESOME RIDE, and presented very tastefully!!!!...DA snake boy!!!

Well if he doesn't try to actually sell the car I don't see why it would be a copyright infringement
Although, if he is making money of the car by advertiseing it as a "real cobra" then that might not be legal

The car doesn't look so bad too me, I'm not so sure I like the white wheels but they don't look bad
Everything else looks like it was done tastefully though

I'm not so sure why you made such a big deal in the beginning msp about people who don't like it
Not everyone has to like it and no one really wetn overboard on the negative comments
and to the others bashing it, you have to understand the guy really likes this car and put a lot of hard work into it
So of course he isn't going to be too happy when someone says something bad about it

Exactly. He doesn't have to sell the car for it to be an infringement. All Ford would have to prove is that it boosted his business even a little for them to have a lawsuit. Just being featured on this site has already garnered some attention, so they would have a case. Being a designer, I know a reasonable amount about copyright laws and based on the 4 main rules of thumb, he's crossed the line.

Agreed, but if you don't want criticism, don't post in this environment because it should be obvious that some people take this stuff to heart.
