Fred you have to remember this will be my first bike a 750 is to big for a starter bike even an 600 is pushing it. The ins rates on bikes are crazy and there even worse once you get above a 600. I know what I like in bikes and I know what I want, I want a Yamaha and an R1 is way to big plus I like the R6 alot anway. I dont feel as though Im giving anything up by getting a 600. Not like Im compremising such as settling for a GT when someone could have had a Cobra.

a 750 is a great starter bike. I have a friend who bought a ZX12R for a starter bike so it really doesn't matter the cc's as much as your ability to control the bike... A 600 is a fast bike though, it's not like a 750 is going to be that much quicker. I do agree with everybody though...600's are so common it's sickening.

As far as insurance goes...get married and it will drop a lot! :) hehe

There are not really any 750's I like. If you think 600's are to popular then check out the 750 Gixers, damn everyone has one of those. Thats nuts your friend bought a Zx-12R for a starter bike, I was aprehensive about a 600. Just alot of bike for a beginer but as long as hes doing ok I dont feel as bad myself either. Also have to remember that Im not that tall. The seat hight on an R6 is 32.3 inches, my inseam on my pants is a 32. I really cant go much higher then that and still be able to comftable touching the grond.

I had a '82 Nighthawk CB650SC. It was a great bike for me. Made more than enough power to get you in trouble and able to cruise on the interstate without beating the piss out of it.
It was my first and only bike.

My first bike back in the 80's was a Honda Hurricane 1000...I even took my road test for my liscence on it. Then went to a GSXR1100 when I got more into racing. That was a fun bike. I only lost to 3 other bikes out of all the ones I raced. Then when I got more into road racing I went with GSXR 750 SRAD...

Thats my main reason for wanting to get into it, just a new experience of being out on the the open road w/ out being in the confines of car.

just have to have self control. When/if I get one I plan on taking alot of time getting good at riding the bike and just getting used to it. Its just not something you can take off the show room floor w/ no experience and rip on it. Ive seen to much of what can happen on bikes, in fact one of our co workers was killed just about 3 yrs ago now on his CBR 600 RR except he was always pushing it, doing wheelies, endo's and standing up on the tank. It was reported the est rate of speed at the time of his accident was 120MPH around a corner. Bikes are only as dangerous for as far as you twis the throttle even though there are many more factors to be careful of while riding VS riding in a cars. But another good factors is the cost of riding VS the cost of a modded stang, meaning when you stop at a gas station and fill up and at the rate of how often.

i had a Suzuki TL1000R and 5 of my friends died on motorcycles so i sold it. it's not you that you have to worry about it's the ****ing idiot that pulls out in front of you :mad:
