Ford Family Plan Puts Out The Welcome Mat; Employee Pricing For Ford, lincoln, mercury

I just noticed that the Ford's TV ads state, in the fine print at the bottom of the screen, that the Ford GT, Mustang, Escape Hybrid, etc are excluded.

However, Ford's radio ads say at the their end, the Mustang GT, Escape Hybrid, etc, are excluded. BTW, these appear to be Ford ads, and not some local dealer's ad.

So, which is it? Which Ford ad is right? Are V6 Mustangs excluded or not ?

All Mustangs are excluded from the deal. The Ford GT (which is probably confusing you is my guess) is the Ford GT supercar, not the Mustang GT. The Mustang in both versions is excluded completely in all trims. That car is just selling way too well for them to include it. It also makes sense because the car is hard to find in some areas.

I'm driving my first non-Ford since 1983 - my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster. My dealer - who I bought 8 cars from in the past, quoted me $3000 over list. I walked. When my lease is up in 2008, we'll see if I still want a Mustang (I probably will...)

The Crossfire is pretty nice and thousands less than a GT Convertible.

It is not me that is confused. I know the difference.

It is apparently Ford itself, or actually their advertising agencies, which are confused. Though, doesn't Ford review and approve these ads before releasing them?

Prices I have seen on the Crossfire are not cheap. Less than a Mustang??
Even if it's so, the Mustang has more room and, I believe, in the long run will hold its value more.

I was quoted $38,000 on a GT Convertible (when I told my dealer I would never pay sticker for a car, let alone more than sticker, they laughed at me and told me I'd be waiting for a long time) and I got the Crossfire for $30,000 (sticker approx. $35,000). If I didn't mention it, my wife worked for the Chrysler dealer, so they did give me a pretty good deal... Not bad for a car with a Mercedes engine and drivetrain and assembled in Germany...

It is smaller, I have no back seat (not that I ever had anybody ride in the back of my 'stang). The trunk is extremely small when the top is down.

But...it weighs about 800 lbs less than the GT and has 19" tires on the rear and 18" on the front. It sticks in corners like glue and has remarkable acceleration, considering the difference in HP (215). With the 6 speed the car is lots of fun to drive. The body is stiffer than my 99 'stang. I never even got to drive a new Mustang vert - so I can't compare, but it is miles above the 99. The hard tonneau cover hides the roof completely and makes the lines of the car look really nice. It gets looks like I never even saw when my 99 GT vert was brand new - and that car turned heads, too.

As far as resale - I'm not all that worried about it - by the time I got rid of my Mustang - it wasn't worth all that much... If I was worried about resale I'd get a Camry...

I wasn't knocking the Mustang - I still love them and will eventually get another, but I am enjoying this car.
