As i was driving down the road the car all of a sudden started to sputter, hesitate, the mor gas i gave it the more it felt like it was gonna stall, next thin i know my ABS light came on and the car shut itself off, what could have caused this? It shut itself off so i parked waited a lil while cranked the car n let it run and it was fine after that what could be the problem?

Well that's a tricky one. The engine sputtering and dying sounds like fuel flow (filter) or MAF/IAC issues. However, the ABS light is confusing me. Could the light have come on after the engine died and be totally unrelated?

There was an article on the Bullitt archive talking about how on Bullitts the hood blanket chafes against the EGR or DPFE sensor's wiring harness and causes an intermittent short. I cannot find the article now though... You might want to inspect that wiring harness...

There are no lights on now and the car is running fine now. I have a Cobra R Hood with no hood blanket. I still have the factory fuel filter on with 37,000 miles.

Yup, mine would run perfectly then it would sputter and stall and the ABS light would be lit. Sometimes it would restart after a few tries and then would be fine for the rest of the day. I had to take it back to the dealer twice before they finally figured out it was the battery. Swapped it out for a new one and it hasn't done it since.

If it were me I would take it by Autozone or Advance Auto whichever you have and have them test the battery for you. If your problem is the same as mine was, might be a good time to upgrade to an Optima :D

What all do i need to change the fuel filter? I see on here where people say u need a special tool. Can just a flathead scewdrive be used. And what do i do with the fuel thats in the lines just let it come out or what?

I would NOT use a flat head screwdriver. It is a lot cheaper to buy the fuel line disconnect tool than it is to replace the fuel line if you mess up those connections. You should be able to get the fuel line disconnect tools at any auto parts store.

Here is a really good article on changing your fuel filter. The only part I would ignore is the part about bleeding off fuel pressure. The easiest way to do that is to let the car sit overnight and change the filter first thing the next morning. The pressure will have bled off over-night.

Personally I don't think it is your fuel filter. The problem would not be intermittant and it certainly wouldn't trip your ABS light. It can't hurt to change the filter though so there is no harm in doing that. I still think you should drop by the local auto parts store or even Sears and have your battery checked out.
