I have to vent some of my anger from today. I was making a left hand turn from the second lane onto the main road. This turn allow two lanes 2 turn left. I was about 3/4 of the way through the turn when a jerk in a truck that was in the first lane didn't even look and turned into my lane. I laid on the horn, but was unable to get his attention. Well it was too late; I was up on the curb. By the time I was able to slowly pull off, he was about 1/8 mile ahead. I took off like I was running a 1/4 mile and caught up to him. Pulled next to him and was valiantly shaking my fist. :fuss: I was so furious; my blood pressure was probably 200 over 150. I ended up getting a headache about 5 minutes later, which latest through rush hour until I got home. :bang:

Some people just should not be allowed to drive. (Not you Black). Glad you are okay and I hope you didn't jack the alignment going over the curb. OUCH!

Hopefully somewhere in the fist shaking was a middle finger extension, showing your love for this person! :nice:

I think the alignment is ok. I was worried about the lower right front getting scrapped up. When I got home, I looked it over and everything seems to be ok. Luckily I was being defensive; I've seen that same situation happen too many times. If I wasn't paying attention, he would have smashed the left front fender.

Glad to hear it is okay Black. One thing I learned from when I used to ride the Kawasaki EX500, is you have to drive for everyone else! People just don't pay attention.

Couldn't have said it better myself. It seems to be almost a daily occurrence to witness some dumb person pulling a stupid maneuver in their car. It makes me sad :(

I had the same thing happen. Old couple in a minivan ran me right off into the gravel shoulder. Passed them on the shoulder(was RIGHT beside them in the turn) spraying gravel and old single finder salute.

Freaking oblivious morons.

Just remember the a-hole never knows he's an a-hole; the terrible driver never thinks he's a terrible driver no matter what havoc he has just created.

The reason I mention that is we all want to try to make that a-hole aware of what he has just done regardless of what (headache; tickets) it does to us.

I'm in anger mgt like anyone else that drives in a big city, but the only way to deal w/ it w/o having a coronary is to prepare for the fool driver before you leave the house-expect the worst. Sad to say, but i'm better off on the road when I expect the worst from my fellow man.

I was run off the road saturday nite on a curvy road by a car that was passing a p/u truck and ended up in a ditch and now have $2700 dollars damage to the front end of the car. it was either hit the ditch that was down a steep hill or a parked semi truck. On the hill they had just cut down a tree and had left the stump and that is what ripped through the front end. :bang: :fuss: bad thing is it happened so quick that i couldn't even get the lic plate of either cars due to going down in the ditch and it was at nite. :damnit:

We should execute all stupid drivers. That would probably eliminate a large percentage of the drivers out there. I see a stupid driver at least two or three times a day in a small town. I have yearned to be a cop for at least a day to give these people a really, really hard time.

Stan. Hahahahahaha.... I know that was a joke. :) But, unfortunately, some of these bad drivers actually contribute to other positive elements in society, so that would just be a loss. I just wish more people would pay attention.

Humans can kill and a car is an affective weapon if not given the respect it deserves.

I think my very favorite is the woman who insists that her rearview mirror or vanity mirror is part of her bathroom and spends most of her driving time primping and doing her makeup. I actually saw a lady behind me one day on her cell phone WHILE applying her mascara. Hahahahaha... Let's just say, I got BEHIND her as quick as I could.

Most of the moms/dads that feel making the baby stop screaming by reaching behind them into the back seat looking for the dropped Bo-Bo or Binkie is another delightful one. Here is a tip - PULL OFF THE ROAD. LOL... :nice:

Oh yes, every time we get into our Stangs to go somewhere we are playing Russian Roulette with a large group of distracted drivers!

Stay Safe and Stay Focused.

Jenn

That woman must live in my town. I've seen someone do that too. Cell phones, eating, reading while driving are all too common. I also love the people who create turning lanes where there are none.

Be carefull folks! Sometimes, as hard as it might seem, just let it go. On the news last night, two guys had a tif earlier in the day. Then, one guy sometime later, finds the other guy again and while he is taking his 10 month old, out of the car, the guy drives right up to him, pulls out a gun and while the guy is holding his kid, the 1st guy shoots him 5 times. Killing him, but thank-god, the baby was not hurt. All over being cut-off in traffic, road-rage! Plus, the killer was some specially trained cop or ex-cop with a perfectly clean record. But they did mention he has a history of depression. That's going to be his out too, and won't spend the rest-of-his life behind bars, I'm sure!

Be safe people. Although I REALLY love my Stang, I love my wife & kids more. Even though I hate to say it (but it's true) it's just a car. Insurance can fix it if it breaks! You however, we can not!

Dave...

Tell y'all what, back when I was a teen, I drove a 1971 MG Midget. Now, a Midget is essentially a four-wheeled motorcycle. It ain't much more than a street-legal go-kart.

Every weekday for a year, I drove that Midget to work on Interstate 45 in Houston. And every weekday for a year, I had to pull out of the way of some semi that was about to squash me with his trailer.

Only way to stay alive is to stay alert.

Good reactions, Black05Retro! :nice:

BTW, do you have red stripes on that black 05 -- is that you, TL?

Sorry about your car but.......

I'm taking a chance saying this but here goes anyway. If you had time to lay on the horn, you definately had time to avoid the curb! I get pushed out of the way quite often by other drivers and my 1st reaction is for me to be safe. I don't think i ever used the horn in those situations.

If you ever find yourself with a choice of moving out of the way into a dangerous spot (wet grass), forget it. Take the clown that cut you off out. Don't let him make you wreck your car just so he can keep driving. In a case like that, i take him out with me!

And since you can't always judge a book by it's cover, don't rule out the distinct possibility that some of those (terrible driver) "a**holes" are driving Mustangs as well. (Not directing that at you or anyone in particular)

Since along with having the potential to occasionaly do many of the same inattentive type things other (bad) drivers do when driving, many Mustang owners can be additionally guilty of being a little too aggressive in traffic at times, which can be just as bad and inevitably produce the same end result.

Like semi truck drivers, there are great ones and bad ones. The brand of truck doesn't tell you much about the driver, even though the kind of load he is carrying might to some degree. And you just never know when that person in the Mustang right behind you at 75mph, is paying way too much attention to the hot blonde in the Ford GT across the median who's going the other way.

Well, as dumb luck would have it, i had to use my advice i gave 2 posts up ^ tonight. Got into a wreck that was unavoidable. Was driving a 2003 Winstar (solo) and hit a '99 or so Explorer (solo driver). Here's what happened:

I saw the truck about 1/4 mile away sitting at a stop sign to my right. I was on a double lane hwy and was at the top of a big hill. As i was approaching, she just sat there so i slowed my vehicle a bit just in case she decided to pull out. As i neared, i kept my eye on her but when i was only 25 or so feet away, she just darted out. For that split second i told myself "I can't f*****g believe she just did that and this is gonna hurt". My only recourse at that point was to obviously apply the brakes and to steer the truck to the left (same direction she was trying to go) to lessen the obvious impact. Had i went the other way, i think things would've been worse for the both of us....especially her.....and i wasn't having that. Ok, here it comes "BOOM", i hit the left front of her explorer and careened off into the grass. Airbag went off and the cabin of the truck got a lil' smokey. As i was still skidding, i was trying to keep the now stalled truck from entering the south bound lane into oncoming traffic. Funny part was, i didn't have the radio on and it came on after impact. Truck comes to a rest and all i can think of at that point is "F**k, i think i killed someone tonight" I removed the key from the ignition, turned off the lights (don't ask me why i did that) and opened the door. Walked over to the truck expecting the worst only to find a girl crying and saying "Sorry" over and over. I ask her if any kids were in the truck and she tells me she's the only passenger. Thank god for that i thought as i looked at where i impacted her truck. To be quite honest, had i not steered to the left, i think there would've been a fatality and i would've been banged up a lil' more. Her truck no doubt would've flipped. I think i hit her around 50mph or so. So, there it is in a nut shell, my worst experience behind the wheel. Lesson learned? Not too much you could do when someone darts out in front of you like that. Glad i was able to make a decision that quick so i guess paying attentioned helped. Oh, and seat belt.....don't forget to wear it, it did it's job tonight.

Fia is a lil' sore but will live to drive another day. Be careful out there, many people on a death wish.

Fia,
Sorry to hear about the wreck. You have to be aware of your surroundings at all times. Like Jenn said you have to drive for everyone else, meaning defensively. I hope that person learned their lesson and everyone is alright.

You did the right thing. So many people end up hitting the ditch and then crossing over into on coming lanes or hitting concealed culverts ect. Only to have the person that caused the accident drive away. Ontop of that you had enough wits to aim at the front fender well VS just plowing into her driverside door.

I bet she looks twice from now on!

Thanks fellas.
As i type this, i'm on hold from the PD. Trying to locate my truck now so i can get personal items from it. Pictures will be taken and posted later.
