??? not sure why you singled me out... I just made a joke... I wondered why Lambo owners don't convert their doors to open "mustang style." Sheesh, either relax or aim your attacks at the right person.

Personally, a person with lambo doors on an American car looses all credibility with me unless the car is strictly a trailer queen show car that is done as an exercise in wasting $. I didn't post this before because it's your $ and I didn't want to flame you... but you asked for it.
BTW - I also bought my mustang, harley, and project car in cash, and my house (in the hills of LA) is mostly paid for. I'm not much older than you and the $ didn't come from my parents. so big deal, we've got a little bit of money. Having $$$ doesn't mean you have good taste too.

Trying to save money for those who may be interested isnt a crime.. Maybe there are others who may consider it.. Saying he doesnt deserve to own a mustang is ridiculous.. I sure hope you don't write any official business papers. :rlaugh:

Bling, bling.......

Want to attract attention? Make said mustang go faster! Only time you get to enjoy your "lambo" doors is when you enter and exit the vehicle. Do you plan on parking the car and leaving the doors open? Forget about that, spend the money where you'll prosper from it most.......while DRIVING !!

Just lay off the 20 year old man.. You dont want people thinking your into picking on guys so young..

Also, the MSP are my initials.. No need for me to make up a fake screen name.. My first name is Michael!

Here's my take on it. So for everyone here. Take it as you will. I think it's an interesting mod. Would I do it? No. And the reasons are as follows.
1. WAAYYYYYY TOOOOOO expensive. That is tops about $100 in materials. I don't care if they got a jedi master to engineer those things. $2k is just a rip off. Shop around and find cheaper.
2. What are the long term risks involved with those doors? In 2 years are the hinges going to rip out of the sides from supporting all the weight? Looking at the pics. You can clearly see the doors hang out to the sides when opened. Is the hinge going to hold them like that forever? Or one day when you open them up. The door falls open on the car next to you.
3. Is this something you are doing to follow the latest style? If so, how long will this take before they become the next altezza lights (played out and ugly)?

Quit the pissing matches. If you want to play grab ass do it in a PM.

Then again a play ground brawl could be entertaining but do it somewhere else. Like the The Wild Horse Saloon

Let's get back to the original subject.

Original poster. ALL group purchases must be cleared by the Stangnet Staff. If you want to start a group purchase hit me with the details in a PM.

resale most definitely be affected. I've never seen a car with lambo doors that, after a year or two, didn't have problems. ie: scratches from the doors, dings, dents, etc... they put alot of pressure on places that weren't designed holding the weight of the door. The weight of the door is 2 or 3 times as much by adding this "lambo" door conversion, because they are up in the air. do what you want, obviously, but in the end, most "lambo" door owners end up regretting it for one reason or another.

is he serious? i mean honestly.. i am not a mechanical engenieer but the weight of the doors? i will agree more pressure is exerted onto the stock holes which the new bracketry is hinged to. but i fail to see the danger/disproportionate allocation of weight on the frame. I mean i know its not a huge truck.. but if a lightweight lambo can handle it.. i think a stang can handle the weight of a door suspended for ten seconds or so in the air. Now i think this mod is pretty sick looking. and if it was somewhere in the 700-999 dollar range.. i think more people would consider doing it. i agree that on a vert it would be insaine. im not saying you have to like it. but some of us dont need to put a supercharger on our stangs just yet( give it a year or two). and i personally think that this is a cool thing to do to personalize your car.. after all it is YOUR car.. who the hell are we all to criticize someone on what they like. now if this was more economical i think it could possibly catch on. and i see the aguement that it looks "rice" but i think it just looks kinda showy. i dont think rice is an appropiate term for it. so thats just what i think.. take it or leave it. dont let anyone slander your opinion

I agree. what is done is that the normal brackets are cut out and new ones are welded in. kind of a big deal ($$$) but it will hold.

agreed

once again :nice:

totally dude, I agree, I never modded my car with others in mind :nice: looking good is looking good. you totally nailed it, **** everyone else, I did what I did for my own gratification.

but still, I'd never rock that **** on my hot rod.

As stangnets "resident Lambo guy," you should be aware that the Lamborghini Gallardo does have the normal door. The only current models that get the famed "lambo door" are Lamborghini's flagship models (ie. Murcielago, Diablo, Countach, etc)

I never said it would wreck or damage the frame. But I go to alot of car shows and I see what these things do to the cars. Whether the kits come with some new brackets, or not, the car was not designed with this in mind, and holding the weight this way, and it could, and does cause damage. I've seen it, numerous times. People don't get these doors to be held up in the air for 10 seconds. They get them to show off, to put in shows, etc... so it is alot of pressure. If they were only going to hold the weight for 10 seconds, and never be open longer, why would anyone do such a mod? Eh, but what do I know? It's freaking physics man. Unless you have some modifications done, besides the simple brackets they provide you, it will cause problems... Ok, I'm done. Too much time spent talking/thinking about an ugly mod that should be left to the car's they came on.
