Yesterday I went to my first car show. Ive been attending the car show every thursday this summer, but this was the first time i brought the mustang. i was kind of hesitate to bring her. I didnt think that she was ready for a show yet but my dad kept pressuring me so i gave in. Man the ride there sucked i felt like a kid going tothe dentist . allI was thinking about was how people where going to critizie it and Make fun of it cause its a II. When i got There I found a parking space in between a 71 camaro and a 67 Mustang. I stood arund the car for a while and got acouple comments like "Man you dont see alot of those any more" Or "Wow I use to have one justlike that". After being there for like 10 min or so I heard areallyl oad car comming down the parking lot iturned around and guess what I saw a 77 green II. Man did that make my night I got in mycar and followed him and parked right nexted to him. It was more of a drag car then a streetcar. It had a rollcage, fuel cell ,fiberglass bumpers And One healthy Motor. Though out the night we had alot of people come look at our cars and i didnt hear one negitive comment. Im glad I broke the seal cause now ill attend alot more shows and support the II

I go to many cruises in the II and it never fails to attract attention. The people that like II's far out number the II haters. From my experience Most II haters own a Mustang of a different era. Most peolpe that dis the II do it in a playfull way. Like the Ford Vs Chevy playfull rivalry. The only time I saw a serious II hater was this dude with a 69 Mach 1 351. There was a crowd of people around the II and noboby was looking at his car. He came over and said " I can't believe Ford called that Pinto a Mach 1". I said why not ford called that Falcon a Mach 1. By the time I was done with him I was laughing and his head was about to explode. The final straw was when I said who's do think is faster? Want to race? (my car has no interior, a roll cage, a nitrous bottle mounted on the transmission tunnel and very roudy exhuast with Flow Master 40 mufflers). He just walked away in a big huff. People tend to pay more attention to a II at a cruise in because there are so few of them left. My car is also obnoxious Ford Grabber Blue which is very tough to ignore. :D

way2fast78...I tried to send you a email on thursday to see if you wanted to come but i guess you didnt get it. Im going this thursday so if you wanna meet up let me know. Hows the progress on your KC btw.
Thanks
Pat

Hey my firstii.

What time are the shows? What time do you get there? Where is it? I will try to get there. :D

My 78KC is running great with the 351W. It has so much torque and power that it is scary! Squeels the tires up to 70 mph. (havent gone fater than that with it, front ends a little "wobbly").

The only problem that I have not addressed yet is the Low exhaust. It is way too low and sometimes the header scrapes. Kinda embarrasing. I am going to put healthier springs in the front to support it more.

I never get "pinto" comments or slams at car shows. I think the II haters have all died... lol Pretty much It's always thumbs up or nice car, or even NOW THATS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!! (got that one whilst driving the II in a parade this summer..)

Way2fast78-I think the show starts around 630ish and i usually get there around 7:00. The show is in down town frankfort off of lagrange road.

Man your car sounds badass. I cant wait to see it. Pst makes a great front end rebuild kit with polygraphite bushings. I used it and it makes a big difference so you might want to look into it. My car is far from finished so dont worry about being embarrased when attending the show. I still have to tune the motor completely and solve some problems with the new motor. Well let me know if you want to meet up and maybe we can pull in together.

Hey Pat,

It does not look like I am going to make it tonight. (raining right now) :( I did not get a chance to get the gauges installed in time. I dont want to drive that far without the proper gauges installed like the eng temp and oil press.

There are shows in Lockport I believe on Tuesdays as well. I should have the gauges installed by next week. Its only about a 1/2 hour drive from Lockport to Frankfort but once again, I dont want to worry about it. I have only made short trips up to this point.

E-mail me at my personal e-mail and I will give you my information se we can meet at one of these shows. [email protected]. :spot:

I always get "I don't like those cars but yours is awesome" I'm like whats so great about my car?? lol Its a stock body with a spoiler and stocker 13's. There are alot of other hot II's especially on this board. :)

Wow, well I'll have to give you a ride when I get her back on the road :)
(hears thud, looks around, sees gumby lying on the floor) OH MY GOD!!!
(jumps down, starts pumping on gumby's chest) 1, 2, 3.. (blows into gumby's mouth)
1, 2, 3... (gumby stands with wobbly taffy legs)
Its okay gumby, you get a front row seat on my dashboard. (gumby smiles, jumps back upon the desk and proceeds to watch over my office with a newly found zealousness)

Hey My First Ii

There is a show in Lockport, Il that I am going to bring the Cobra to. Do you want to go? It starts at 6:30 p.m. tonight, the location is in downtown Lockport.

Anybody else in the south Chicago area is of course also welcome. :D

Let me know.

Well, the show went well. There (of course) were no other M II's there. I did get many good compliments and the King Cobra drew a good croud. (more than the 71 Chevelle SS next to me he he :D ) There were mostly Chevelle's and Vettes at the show with a few Mustangs.

I did not know what to expect because I own a car that is not normally accepted in the "hot rod" arena. To me, I wouldnt have anything else!

Hey my 1stII, e-mail me. ([email protected]) I am going to try to go to the show in Frankfort this Thursday. I finally have the gauges in, "no worries".

My brother and I do a show here on Long Island every Sunday. This particular show usually has the islands most high end cars there; stuff you'd rarely see at an average car show. There are 3 Ford GTs there every week, 2 of those new Lambos, countless Vipers and Vettes, and tons of other modern muscle. There are also plenty of older cars, but no junkboxes and no rice at all. Most of the older hot rods are 100k plus machines.

Know what car draws considerably more people to it than any other car there?

My brother's II. :D
