Did something without thinking about it...

Ok guys, i am still a newbie, and i will admit to have gotten those cheap Air Intakes from eBay yesterday in the mail.

I got on it right away. Took off the factory, started placing the aftermarket one toghether, i was almost finished, just needed to secure the filter and reconnect the MAF and the IAT sensors. When i get a phone call about an emergency and that i needed to rush to the hospital

In the rush of things, i quickly put on the filter and connected the MAF and rushed my way down about 2 or so miles till i realized i did not connect the IAT sensor ( the car started to feel very sluggish i pulled over to reconnect it but apperantly it had already done damage.

Now it is really sluggish, doesnt upshift as it use to, it seems to be guzzling up fuel quickly and the Check Engine light has stayed on

Can anyone give me any advice on this, if it wasnt the for the panic of the situation (( everything is fine now BTW )) i would have remembered to reconnect.

my only guess would be try resetting, park the car for a few hours and disconnect the negative terminal from the battery, i don't know how long it really takes for it to reset, only time i did this i let it sit overnight.

take it to autozone

You can also take it to autozone and they should be able to reset the code for you.

It usually only takes 5-10 minutes to reset the computer by turning it off... I don't know if that will fix your problem though...

Thanks for the advice, i am doing it right now, i guess another question i have is. Is it possible that i actually damaged something in my car ( sensor, computer ect. ) by doing this? Any ideas?

I'm not an expert by any means, but I'd bet my money that you just threw off the computer, and you've done no permenant damage, I don't see how something could get damaged that fast, but - of course, that's just my opinion, and - i could be wrong... it happened once.

If you re-plugged it, then I don't hink that anything will be damaged. Un-plugg your battery and touch the cable to the side of your car and the re-plugg your battery and turn on the car to see if that helped. If not, then un-plgg the battery and un-hook the intake and start it all over, plugging the battery back in when finished installing.

you can also reset the battery easier buy pulling one of these big fuses in the fuse panel under the hood..now which one it is, who knows? lol, my roomate does it...so yea id go with the battery, i doubt you did any major damage, i too am no expert, but i dont foresee something like that causing to big of perminant damage

you computer was trying to fix the problem itself buy playing around with the sensors, it shouldn't have hindered any problems.
