Magnum - nice. Charger - nice 4 door sedan. IMO, it does not deserve the name Charger b/c it does not portray the heritage or the look. And neither one of the two vehicles can stomp the GT. They have more HP and a lot of extra weight.

Yes, thats what was obvious in my opinion.. But relative to the Chargers and Magnums of old, is the power to weight ratio the same? I mean, the old chargers and Magnums were also heavier than the older Mustangs as well... So does Dodge have a fun cars here or what? They strike me as extremely fun cars to own and drive to work everyday..

LOL!! What does No Comment mean? Please explain if you have time.. I think Dodge did a fairley good job.. Lets just try and be honest.. I know we are all Mustang owners.. But there is nothing wrong with examining the competition.. LOL! :D

Look at the Charger SRT8.. 425HP 420TQ.. On a very cold day, it would eat the GT alive wouldnt it? I mean, thats the car which is comaprable to the GT, or is that more inline with the Cobra? I think its more GT, because its a standard production car, which is not hard to get.. As far as 1/4 mile time, it just says high 13's.. So perhaps it is a tank. LOL!! :D

Dodge has some very nice products, but IMO are using the wrong badge for them. The SRT8 is going to eat the GT for lunch - and I must say it is a darn nice ride. Would I own either? Yes I would, as a family car. I would love to have an SRT8 beside my GT in the garage. I like them, but would not take either over my GT even if the SRT8 can beat it. The GT and V6 have more style, better looks and a ton more heritage and deserves the name Mustang. I can not say that for the Charger. Now, let's compare the awesome Dodge SRT8 to the Shelby :) It is reported that the base price of a Chrysler 300 SRT8 is $39,995 - right at the same reported price for the Shelby. Which would you choose?

I do not like the charger at all, not only do I think it looks bad but it has little to no tie to the classic chargers. They should have stayed with the 99 concept they had for it because that one looked really nice.

As far as the srt-8 beating a gt, well ya it will but not by much and it will be priced about the same as the shelby so thats what you should compare it to. The r/t and daytona models are more comparable to the mustang gt price wise and neither of those will beat it in performance.
The 300 and magnum aren't too bad but I wouldn't want either of them because I don't care about sedans. I think people too much emphasis on sedans when coupes can be just as practical.

raced a magnum at the track it had the hemi and i smoked it in my stock 05 gt by over 1 sec... i am not impressed with big HP #'s when they have cars that weigh 4000+ lbs

I ran a Hemi 300C a while back. I'm in Denver, so my times are definitely affected by altitude :)

Anyway, he ran a 16.3, I ran 14.7 (2002 Z28 A4).

The cars are heavy, thats for sure.. But how easy would it be to get those cars to some really impressive numbers? I mean, wouldnt a simple tune allow for them to make up some gains on the weight compensation? The engines come from the factory ready to perform executions.. Based on what is there for stock, shouldnt these new motors easily handle 7-800HP without the need to upgrade anything?

Basically, if someone with a Magnum or Charger actually got the car tuned, couldnt he be alittle more competitive?

Lets look at it like this.. Mod for Mod, are the Hemi's in a position to produce more power period without any changes than the Mustangs?

I mean, we keep talking Tank, but is it a Tank that can easily be made to take steroids? Lets say the GT's are stopped for saftey at 478RWHP.. The Hemis can scale upwards of 7-800 maybe 1000 without any changes done.. Is this correct? Not sure so just asking.. I like the Magnum personally.. I could see it being a good weekend car for the family.. We dont need the Tahoe all the time. This would be a fun family car..

:bang: it's the gears man... ugh... the cars would be neck and neck if geared the same. the weight and horsepower difference should even each other out, the problem is the gears. 2.82:1 and 3.53:1 is a huge difference. That's bigger than jumping up to 4.10:1's.
