Hello all, I'm newb around here and somewhat to Stangs too, bought my 2001 Mustang about 5 months ago and am now looking into some upgrades - but first things first.. I pulled into my garage the other day and pulled a little too far forward, barely touched my mountain bike at the front of the garage, but it was enough to knock it over and cause the brake to scratch a nice little 3 inch s-shaped scratch on the hood. Is something like that light enough to get out with a wax/compound or do I need to go to a dealer to get some touch up paint to cover over it?? Its not a deep enough scratch to "feel" it by rubbing a finger over it, can anybody recommend anything???

Great site too, lot of info here. I haven't done much to the car yet, I bought wheels and tires literally the day after I picked it up -

Thanks for the help!

i got some oxford white for a 2000 mustang year touch up paint at autozone...that paint so did no match my car, which of course is a 2000 oxford white...whats the deal with that? might have been a bad bottle, i donno, but it was not the same color, i was disappointed cause i thought i could fix those scratchs...but! gotta love freinds...my roomy just closed on a house with a huge garage and workshop, he has a 94 tbird SC, hes done put so much $$ into that v6...pushing bout 500wrhp..so his garage will be full of tools and parts...so ill be able to finally paint my own car and parts, never done it before, but im looking foward to it...but after all the bumbling...basically, with my experiences...you can get touch up paint but dont be to surprised if it isnt right on...but then again, maybe it was just my bad luck

Touch up paint

I have the same problem...I just bought mine and it came with a couple minor scratches, but I want them gone! I've tried buying the touch up paints at the auto stores for different rigs and they never seem to match up right :( Is there a trick to applying the paint?
I'm going to try the dealer for some touch up paint....you would think they'd have the right colors :D
