:stupid: It's lighter, stronger, better balanced, quieter, smaller diameter and it'll give you a few exra wheel HP, somewhere around 3 - 6 off a stock set-up. It's a good idea but i'd only stick with it if you have or are planning to have some serious engine modds such as Nitrous, forged internals, cam, blower, etc. etc. etc. stuff of the sort, but if you really want to get it i'd also say go for it but it won't show a significant difference in performance as it would if you have some money under your hood. It's still a modd and every bit helps

Its actually stronger? I wouldnt imagine that because its aluminum and i know our factory one is freaking heavy duty steel or something. I definatly wanted an aluminum driveshaft because well i figured it would be lighter but didnt do it if it was weaker but since u guys are telling me its stronger And QUIETER!! which is something i wanted outa the driveshaft. Then i might definatly consider doing it.

Taking off rotational weight also helps add to slightly higher revving, but that doesn't necessarily mean it does that much good (unless you're trying to spool a turbo a little longer). Same applies with flywheel, but going TOO light can lead to bogging the engine off the line (or so I hear).

Ford Racing makes the driveshafts.Any parts store that has a line on their stuff could get one..They only list 2 part #'s for them..here is a link to Ford Racing..if you look at the tech notes toward the bottom of the page..tells which fits what.http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=1170
Less rotational weight with the driveshaft and also a lighter flywheel will let the motor turn rpm's with more ease..And as far as one bogging down off the line..i dunno about a mustang, but i have wrenched on other cars with lightened flywheels and they never did.And V6 and the V8 share the same trans so should fit either of the 2..As long as you get the right splined shaft

The Ford Racing one is only for the manual transmission. Damn. I'd really like to find one. Perhaps another car has the same driveshaft and companies make aluminum driveshafts for them that could be swapped into our cars.

I know that Supersix Motorsports has a light weight fly wheel for v6 mustangs. I wanna do the whole drive train. Shift kit, light weight flywheel, aluminum drive shaft, t-lok, and 3.73's. That would probably make a bit of a difference over stock.

Its lighter, but not stronger, better balanced, quieter, and definatly not a smaller diameter. In fact it has a bigger diameter. you get smother shifts out of it but thats about it. Aluminum driveshafts are in fact lighter, there for they cut down on speed fluxuation,(where the driveshaft begains to wobble in the middle becouse of its rotational mass) which is why the shafts are made for high speed. Thats why there more common on road race cars than drag cars. I have one my self so its not here say. unoticable to slim differance in the 1/4.
