I just installed the front disc brake converison kit from SSBC. Mounting the rotor and calipers was super easy. SSBC has very good instructions in my opinion. Just need to install the proportioning valve and bleed the lines and install the rear shoes. Take a look.

Finally got to see how my new wheels look! But I just realized that the morons at the tire shop mounted the tires the same direction on all four tires :nonono:

Yes I got the strut rods figured out. Cost me $100 but I got it figured out. Would be lost without Stangnet! You can afford disc brakes when your dad thinks it's a saftey issue and he wants to buy them :) I'll probably have to pay for them in the long run though. Ya I was thinking about MustangSteves conversion kit but my dad really didn't like it for some reason so we just went with SSBC, works for me. I haven't even driven my stang yet, brought her home and went to work on her. I've had the suspension kit laying around here for awhile. I got the 11" rotors. SSBC-A120D is what they are called. $948 total with free shipping and they showed up within like 2 or 3 days from Sumitt. Never knew Sumitt was that good of company. All was going good on the conversion until the damn brake lines decided not to come out of the distribution block. STILL trying to get the line out. :( Thanks everyone!

Congrats on the new SSBC kit, I'm looking at this one too for my 68. Just curious, the pictures you posted show the caliper in the front of the rotor, not the back, is this correct? Every picture I have seen shows them mounted at the back of the rotor and this kinda stuck out to me. It's probably right, but thought I would ask.

19stang66, try using a small hand held torch, heat the connection up, then when it's hot, not glowing or anything, take the torch away and spray some WD40 on it, let it sit for a while like over night, then do the same thing again, then wait for it to cool down and try to loosen it. That's worked for me the few times that I had to do it.

When using heat, I just heat the thing and grab the wrench and loosen the fitting immediately. I've found that corroded stuff usually comes apart easiest while it's still hot.

Oh, and I highly recommend MAPP gas torches. You can get the small size, it's just a lot hotter than propane. Propane is not worth your money IMO. A few seconds with a MAPP gas torch and most anything will come apart easily. If not, heat it a little more and try again.

You may also want to buy one of those small heat resistant blankets meant for sweating plumbing joints inside walls. You can prevent damage to surrounding parts that way.

I love the kits from SSBC I just put the power front disc brakes on my 69 coupe and it was great. I will try to get a couple pics to post up of it. I also went with the front coilover conversion setup from Total Control Products along with their power rack and pinion steering setup. All awesome products.

Yes the calipers are supposed to be in front. Seemed weird to me too, but i just followed their directions. Oh and their directions are really easy to follow. Well as i posted in my other thread, i gave up on the damn line and just cut all of the lines off of the d/b and put the block in a vise and heated the fittings really hot and used a vise grips and they came off finally. So i saved myself some money there. But i had to buy prebent lines for $100. Oh well, if it makes the car happy. Thanks everyone.

Ya thats what im saying. They are directional tires. And all four were mounted the same direction when the two front were supposed to be opposite and the two rear opposite. They fixed it for free though. I'll post some pics here in a few minutes. GOT HER ON ALL FOURS TODAY!!!
