I'm wanting to order one of the California Dream Ram Air hoods for my '05 Mustang GT and was wondering if anybody knew the best place to get one. I know RKSport has then for $450. I was also wondering about the fiberglass. Is that pretty much what everybody is going with aftermarket? Is it that much trouble?
Thanks for any help.

I just ordered the hood as well from LMPerformance for $450. I am pretty sure most of the aftermarket hoods are fiberglass. Most people recommend putting on hood pins. I ordered some hood pins from Summit Racing to go with the hood.

What problems are people experiencing with the fiberglass hoods to require hood pins? Just wondering. I think it would look cool anyways. I wish there was some way to avoid the 190 dollars shipping. Thats' killing me.

Yeah, it was a little tough for me to buy it with that kind of shipping, but with the $450 sale price you are still coming out at 640 which is cheaper than the normal price of $695 which would be $885 w/ shipping. For that kind of hood it seemed like a pretty good price and I just wanted something besides the normal larger hood scoop on the center of the hood like the previous mustangs had.

It is not just the fiberglass hoods that people have been having trouble with and require hood pins. Some people have problems with their stock hoods lifting at higher speeds due to too much air coming up through the front fascia. I believe there is a thread about it in the technical section. I am not positive that you must have hood pins on the fiberglass hoods, but I am pretty sure I heard that it is highly recommended (I have never modified a car before, so if I seem inexperienced then it is b/c I am, lol). I don't mind having to get hood pins since I think they look cool and add to the retro look of our stangs. I will be getting the body shop to install these though, since I could never bring myself to drill holes in my hood.

I missed out on the early bird special [$450]. I ordered mine directly from RK Sport. Told them I was a member of several Stang boards and got a 10% discount. Shipping to PA was only $125. It's at the shop now and my car goes in on Monday for the work. I can't wait...

I was looking at that front end and was thinking that it looks kind of busy with the front end with the fog lights and those intakes. I got to thinking what it would look like without the fog lights and I definitely like it better without the fog lights. Here is what I mean with a quick photochop out... Of course, the car looks great with that hood though... :hail2:

Photoshop them into the lower grill either in the center or directly below where they were in the upper grill.. I've been thinking about this mod..

this was a super quick job, obviously you have to make the fogs a lot smaller to fit into the lower section

unless someone has a good angle of a lower fascia that could fit the stock fogs

i think the non-centered lower fogs look kinda cool

Could one of you that have the hood installed please post some pics of the underside and engine compartment???
I would like to see the way it's connected.
Did anyone reflash for the air intake?? Or have you found it's not nessesary?
Thanks
