What parts need to be swapped out for the suspension on a 6 to 8 conversion? I have been looking at the suspension parts and it seems like some of the parts are standard. Only difference I can see is the spindles and coils. The control arms seem to be the same. I took a look at my currently suspension and they appear in great condition so I figures i would just sand them and powder coat them.

Thanks in advance.

The suspensions are the same, you will just need to get the right springs for the load you want and rear axles for the type of power. Much easier switch then if you had a 65-66 V6 to V8, where just about everything is different.

I agree and disagree :D . The springs were different but I think the spindles are a different size for I6 and V8 also. My reasoning for this is that I have seen brake kits that bolt to six cyl. spindles and different ones for the eight cyl. spindles. Everyhting else is the same with the exception of sway bar size.

Mustang spindles can be grouped into the following: 64.5-67, 68-69, 70-73. The early ones have the advantage to be concours correct, while the latter ones are stronger.

68-69 spindles are larger than the earlier ones but retain the same outer tie rod tapers.

The 70-73 spindles are much stronger than the other years and are the best to use for the conversion. However, the spindle went to a size larger tie rod taper so tie rod ends from a 70-73 must be used.
