Went to PSP last night and picked up my custom intake and one of Sal's custom tunes...Sal if you on here thanks for staying late once again for me...did not get out of there until 9pm.

Basically the intake is the C & L intake and then PSP grinded off the C& L logo, smoothed out the intake a little bit, they powder coat it(I picked silver to match my car), and black rubber couplings instead of the blue ones that come with the C & L. They also gave me a different filter that he said came with his kit, can not remember the exact name but i think he said Powerstack filter. He installed it in 5 minutes and then uploaded the tune.

He told me that it would be a entire new car, but I did not think it would be as good as this. It is like going from a pinto to a ferrari. The throttle response is awesome and it pulls strong through every gear. No lag at all off the line. I was sitting there drolling over getting a supercharger because i was not happy with the performance but now after the tune it will hold me over for a few more months.
I think the deal was pretty good too, charged me 725 for the intake and tune.

here is some pics

no numbers yet, i showed up too late to put it on the dyno but Sal has already dyno tuned 3 cars with the exact setup(axleback, intake, tuner)

it is tuned for 93 octane, but that is all I put in any of my cars anyhow.

Spoke to Sal and he said on the cars he did with the same setup (bassani axle back, psp intake, and his tune they are seeing 285 -290 rwhp.
I plan on getting a dyno tune but not until I get my NX kit installed. I will be sure to make a pull with no nitrous just to confirm these numbers for everyone. it definitely has increased performance, as I can easily light up the rear tires and it chirps 2nd gear hard.

Just for comparison, I've got the C&L, a Bassani X-pipe, and Magnaflow axle-back. With my custom SCT tune I pulled 300 / 314.

halflife1 - now that I see your intake powder coated, I'm thinking of painting mine with high-temp black - yours looks awesome man!!

I bet you're loving the way the car pulls now - I know I did!!

yeah the car is awesome.

Sal had one powder coated a black wrinkle and it looked awesome. just make sure you grind off that c & L emblem. Not bad all I need is an x pipe and i am over 300, sounds good! thanks for the info.

Hey i have a lightning too!!!

I put the 91 octane tune in mine that came with the C&L and Preditor, going to the dyno this weekend to check the A/F. Cars pulls alot harder now between 2000 and 5000rpm.

Interesting...thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing the dyno results.

Just curious, I dont see the heat shroud for the CAI in the pics. Did yours not come with it, or did you not have it installed for the pics?
I would think by using the shroud that the cooler air would make some power improvment as well. Hence the name "cold air intake".

Looks real good though. I am geting the C & L as well and now I think it will have to go to the powder coat guys and get a Torch Red Paint job. Did they coat inside and out on yours?

The shround might help a little, but I doubt it would show a measureable increase. AFAIAK, to date, there are no true CAIs on the market for the 05/06. Cold air can only come from OUTSIDE the engine compartment, calling these things CAIs makes us look like the teenagers in their Honduhs in my book.

there was no heat sheild. I honestly doubt a heat sheild would make much of a difference. the area where the filter is big and open.
Not sure if it is coated on the inside. It was already assembled when I showed up to PSP and they just poped it on there for my in 5 minutes.
I will try and find out and let you know. If you did not order yours yet, PSP sells them with the C & L logo grinded off and powder coated.
