I have read a little about elctromagnetic valve control in the past, but at the moment I don't think I'm going to be reading that.
My take, electronic valve control is potentially a holy grail for IC engines. This could optimize cylinder filling at all rpms, resulting in an insanly fat torque band, and exellent fuel consumption numbers. Of course, the real problem is actuating the valves. it takes tremendous forces to open and close the valve so quickly.
