Cadillac CTS-V Oh My...

Now this is an amazing car. GM pulled everything right with what I've seen. i was sitting around the dealership today and some guy came in with a new CTS-V. AMAZING exhaust sound, FAST as a hell, LOOKS like a toy car. Wait what? Yeah it looks like its made out of the cheapest plastic ever. But daaaang that thing is a beast. Don't know what I'd do if I saw a STS-V. :hail2:

Anyone race one in a stang? Would get wasted. :(
YES I have!!!!! I had a couple of yuppies pull up pickin on me about a month and half ago. Just my luck cause earlier in the day one of my coworkers with a standard cts was tell'n me i wouldn't stand a chance if he had the "V" (Whatever). That some bi**h is fast but i think he missed third and i was well on my way to 75 at that time, hit 95 and backed it down on a 40mph speed zone. He wanted to go again, but too much traffic at 6 in dallas. Think if you know how to drive, you could take down most vehicles but a serious set of rubber helps me most of the time. I don't know, maybe his a/c kicked in or something but still was fun. Hope everyone remembered a moment of silence today for our countries heros and victims. :flag: :flag: :flag:

Here here. I'll give my flags.

Well, thats pretty cool. I just wish the Mustangs had an exhaust like that. Lordy that sounds loud and powerful. Just a deep raspy growl. Mmm I hope the new Z06 sounds that good. (I'll be lookin for something like that for my Stang. Any ideas?)

a CTS-V was at my local drag strip at palmdale ca 2700ft elev.
It ran 14.2's , is the sts-v faster

I dunno folks, I don't think you can compare the two.
The reasons why the Mustang is better are as follows.
The Mustang is much cheaper, and almost has the same performance.
The Mustang is a sexy coupe. The Cadillac is not. Believe me, all those stealthy angles will look very dated very quickly, wheras the Mustang proves that an older, but classic look is what will stand the test of time.
All those sophisticated electronics will wind up failing. One of the best things about the Mustang is it's inherent simplicity. It's touch screen based dual zone automatic climate control system will never fail because it doesn't have one... :)

Good points GusinCA. I was considering the CTSV as my next ride but I couldn't even get a test drive when the CTSV came out. Most of my local dealers had a 10K mark up from MSRP. IMO, the angled look is dated. The '05s have a $1,300 gas guzzler tax to boot. $52K new $37K used? Why not buy a "Vette?

Are you serious? I know this is a stang site but come on. That caddy would rape an 05 stang around the track (straight line and especially around corners). How can you say the look is outdated and the mustang is not? The mustang uses a design from the 60's. :notnice: Wake up bro, the mustang is a nice looking car, but then again It should be. Ford couldnt come up with a modern design for it so they "copied" the most popular style they had. Which is fine, it looks good, but in no way is it better then a CTS-V. and that exhaust everyone is preaching about is an LS6, the motor that everyone say's sounds like crap in an F-body or vette, go figure.

Angry much? You need to chill. This is a Mustang forum so some statements may be biased. Go to a GM forum if all you want is praise.

Hey bowtiesblow, if the CTS/V design isn't dated why is Bob Lutz's croonies changing the design to "soften the lines" for the '07 model? I read this on Edmunds. GM has NOTHING to compete with the '05 Stang as far as price range or popularity. I have trolled on both GM and Caddy lots and they seem to have alot of '05 overstock even with the "employee discounts" Go figure?

Not a lot of V's on the lots. And the ones that are are new 06's. At least around here. Most have one, maybe two. And anyway, why does this matter?
Sounds like the beginning of another p**sing match. You like em or you don't, move on.

I HAD to stop at the dealer today and check them out. He had 1 V and a couple of regular CTS's. I can say that I was blown away from the performance of the V and even the regulars aren't bad.

I do like my Mustang, but if I saw the CTS before it, I would've been tempted.

Enough Said.
:)
Yeah "BRO", and your point is?
I understand this is a mustang site so people are going to be biased. I wouldnt be here if I didnt like Mustangs, but give credit where credit is due. Why your even comparing these two cars is stupid. Two totaly different cars in two totaly different classes. I guess here the stang is the only good car.
:(

Personally I think the GTO is a better buy then the CTS-V. Same motor, same trans, less weight, simpler construction, no extra electronic garbage, ect. It may be a little slower because the rear gearing is higher (3.46 in the GTO compared to 3.73 in the V), but with the money saved (Rougly $17,000)you can make a car that could destroy the CTS-V both in speed and handling. However, I do think the CTS-V is the better looking car and is a great buy if you are looking for something a little more luxurious without a lot higher price tag.

I sure as all hell wouldn't compare these cars. I started the topic to praise the car. People on comparing what we're praising because thats what we own...mustangs. Its a mustang site for people who own.....mustangs. So its natural to see the comparison between cars even if the price range is completely different and the car is too. Who cares? Stick to the topic and just say what a damn good exhaust it has and how fast it is.

I got to drive the CTS-V today. Found out it wasn't stock. $1500 worth of mods and a Corsa exhaust. Thats why it sounded so good. Not a lot of power in first gear but its still awesome. Dang that thing is quality. If I had a family and wanted something fast.....that or a chrysler/dodge srt.
