My friend had an 04' sti and he'd continuously walk me pretty hard. I like the way yours looks a lot better than the 04'. I was almost going to get an 03/04 cobra but now I'm hell bent on a 05+ GTO.
I don't know about those GTO's. I like the idea of a 400 HP 6.0 (I believe that is the correct specs) but from what I have experienced, they are turds. I don't know if its the weight or the fact that the one I raced was an auto, but I beat an '05 6.0 3 out of 4 times racing in the 1/8th. Maybe it was the fact that the guy didn't have a clue about his car, telling me it would run over 200 MPH if he took the electronic limiter off, but it just really didn't pull very hard. I took him out of the hole (which could be from wheel spin) but even half way down the track, he could not pull on my car. Trust me, I am far from talking up my 9.4 sec. 1/8 mile beast, just hinting at the fact that those cars (or at least the one i raced: I have learned auto=slow) was far from spectacular... and even further from the advertised 400 HP.

Thats the first time I have seen that body style. I dont like the lights or that mini spoiler(dont really mind the big one that much but the small one looks cheesy)
It grows on you. The front end doesn't look half-bad in person. And the cheesy wings (technically I think there are three total, the big one at the back is actually two) start to grow on you... kinda like a fungus. It's so obnoxious, it's kinda appealing.

I've definitely noticed that this car is every teenagers wet dream. Everywhere I look, some teenager is gawking at it. On the freeway, at stoplights, you name it. Kinda funny if you ask me. It's a wildly fun car, but it's not some supercar, it's not even all that quick if you're used to Mustangs :D.

I made it almost exactly 24 hours before buying the first mod. This is an easy one, not expensive, and not really all that much performance-wise, but I wanted to be able to hear that cute little turbo spin up and blow off. So I got this:

"I have Eibach Pro-Kit springs, KYB shocks/struts, custom full length subframe connectors, Eibach sway bars, pro3i upper/lower control arms, and my stang handles 10000x better than any f-body I've driven." :rlaugh: C'mon Cman. If I put all that work into any car's suspension, I could say it handled better than any other car. Apples to apples.

"I've driven SS's and Z28's, they handled like a freaking cruise ship, lol." :nono: That's insane to me. Dunno whos car you were driving that day but again, I owned one for 4 years. It blew away the stock stang suspension. I think you are too used to your suspension after the upgrades. Been ther done that and no comparison. The stang is a lot looser and leans a whole lot more.

 You might be right. When I drove those cars, I didn't have my control arms, but I had everything else. I sure don't remember what the stang handled like before the suspension, but I know it wasn't great. All my friends who have driven them say they handle poorly as well. Oh well.

I wouldn't be so adamant but I am sure of it Cman. I remember taking this overpass at 75+ and the car felt like it was on rails. The stang leans like hell and feels like it will break loose (same turn). When I drove my friends miata it was no better than the Z28. Only downfall was the Z would kick out sometimes on a real hard like 85 degree turn b/c of the "live axle." Then I got in my dads Z vert and it handled poopy. Given it felt like a tanker to your stang means your car must handle pretty well and that is encouraging! :nice:

What's the HP, TQ and MPGs ratings on those? Is it a 6 speed?
It's probably slightly overrated at 300 bhp, typical stock STI puts around 235 awhp, which is about the same whp as a '99-04 GT. Based on others experience, I'm expecting I'll see about 19-21 mpg on average, just a tad more than I've been getting with my Cobra. And yes, 'tis a 6-speed. The factory short-shifter is longer than a typical Mustang aftermarket short shifter, but it's really not half-bad. It's better than the T-56 in my Cobra, at least in how it shifts.

The 05 - 06 GTO is not very fast off the line but it's damn fast up top. One of the guys on my street traded his 99gt for one a week ago, He gave me a ride a couple days ago, It's a nice car, I dont like how they look, but that 6.0 6 speed and comfy interior sold me. I'm waiting on the 07 shelby, thats mine. I can take him until 3rd i'm, positive but he would catch up and pass me within a mile or two. As for the STI I like them for there handling characteristics, AWD is hard to beat in corners.

Dave-
NICE grab for a DD!!! I LOVE them and would own one in a second. But, I must say that the new front end makes me want to puke. Its weird, suby caught all kinds of hell about the way the first WRX/STi front ends looked, and then they redesigned the head lights to look MUCH better... now I feel like they took a step back again. Hopefully someone will come out with a nice, non-boyracer front end for the new WRX/STi that will compliment the nicer new headlights and get rid of that God-aweful center grill.

IMO for the area in which I live a WRX/STi would make for the BEST DD on the market. Fast, fun, sporty, and it can be driven year round!

Rootus,

Nice pick up on the STi. I sold my stang to get an '04. I get about 23 mpg in mixed city/hwy driving with some spirited driving thrown in there.

I hated the wing when I first got my car, but like you said, it's grown on me, now I don't think I want to take it off.

I love the STi, handling is absolutely awesome, but I miss my mustang soooo much. that's why I still hang out around here. The boxer engine has a nice sound to it, but it's no match for a stang. I'm hoping to pick up another mustang within 2 years or so.

You should check out http://www.steelcitystangs.com since you are from the 'burgh. There are a number of nice stangs on there for sale too, namely a nice black 94 cobra!

Oh no, why did you have to tell me about that cobra? :p That is pretty nice, but my fiance would absolutely kill me. We're saving for our wedding next year so I really don't have the money to spend on a stang.

I did register though, under the name Danimal. Guess I'll start a thread over there to introduce myself.
