K member question

I need to get some frame work done on my front end, and i need a new k member/crossmember/cradle.

my question is, first of all, I used to know of this site that sold them used for like 200, and they had a big yard of wrecked mustangs, and i think it was in dallas or texas or something.. but for the life of me i cant find that site...

and then secondly, even if a used k member is straight, is it a bad idea to use one? I plan on keeping the car for a long time, and a new k member is like 700, verses a 200 used one. this is not an insurance repair, and i would like to save a few bucks...

I was thinking about buying a tubular k member, but I dont want to have any compatibility issues. I know some k members, such as max. motorsports, require you to use their coil over suspension setup. I havent done much research, but would a tubular k member just be a direct replacement fit?

also, I didnt want to spend much more than 700 dollars.

those K members are not crash approved and never will be because they're made for stiffness at tracks, not collisions. I hope you don't get into one, It might just snap your neck off :(

I'm speaking from experience here, I am happy to know how the highest rated K member rates in a front end collision, especially when the airbag deploys before you hit the main impact.
 
^ the front end was ment to crumble, same with the k member, take away half of the componets of a safty feature and you just lost 50% of the end result in an accident. Kinda like falling ona a wooden table (ment to break) and the difference of falling on a metal table (pure steel)

You can also take race cars for example, they're not DOT approved because of the restraints ie: harnesses & roll cages. They're meant for different impacts.
 
Then why does a "tech" approved NHRA race car that runs 9's or faster keep the driver from getting hurt while racing? They all have tubular K-members. I've seen Pro 5.0 cars hit the wall at over 100MPH and get out and walk away.
