The driveshaft is rubbing

I've been fighting with this for a long time.
My driveline is rubbing up against the ebrake lines down the center channel. Once and a while it will also rub on the ebrake bracket if I put some boot into it.

My ebrake bracket has been ground down to the bare minumums. My ebrake lines have been pushed up against the top (only to fall slightly again after the parking brake is ever used). I even put a pinion snubber in there, but it must not be long enough (even though I hear it smack against the top every once and a while).

First, I had sportline springs, so I put "higher" lowering springs in it to fix the rubbing problem. Worked for a few days, but after the spings settled, it started again.
I'm about ready to put some stock ones back in, but I've called everyone and nobody seems to be selling stock 94/95 GT springs (even ford dealers). I've thought about coil-overs, but the good ones are too expensive for me right now.

So, I'm in a pickle. If anyone has any ideas, that'd be awesome.

I scored mine real good ONCE...then I tried this Mac adj pinion snubber a member suggested...I have yet to hit again...
I went thru the same BS on the cables and brackets...although I never did grind the bracket...I was lowered 2" out back to...
Like I said, this worked for me...you can set the hgt where you want to limit travel...mine doesn't bang or the like either...I dont have the plate that goes on top of the dogbone either...so mine hits the pumpkin to limit travel...so far so good...

Look familer...the one out front is a decent score from the bracket, the rubs out back the cables, the cable rub ain't jack though..

i went out and looked after yall were talking about the e brake mine dont rub and im 1 3\4 lower the scoring i have was from the muffler check that thats what it was on mine yours may be different mine is a 95 gt

Ahh who needs an ebrake anyway? LOL mine snapped long before I was aware of this problem. I have the eibach prokit and an aluminum driveshaft. It snapped though where it pulls the 2 rear cables, like right before it goes into the interior. I dunno if it was directly caused by my car being lowered or rubbing though. I have the replacement cable part, the real bitch is trying to get it in there, i tried to once and gave up (too much compressing or springs and such)

i just bought a stock driveshaft and was done with it!!! my frpp one rubbed all the time even with coilovers.

The adjustable snubber fixed mine. Also helped with traction pretty good.

Nice pics. Yup, that's the snubber I've got in there too. That's weird that yours just "fits" in there though. I had to cut mine down to fit it in. Pretty tight fit.

Has anyone seen any stock rear springs that I could get? I don't think it would look too bad with a bit of a rake. Actually the rear looks a bit lower than the front, so it might turn out more even. I guess the real questions is: which springs work with which years? will 96/98 rear springs work with 94/95's

Well, I called I guy who knew a guy that had some stock springs...put them in and the squeaking is GONE. And it looks pretty good still with the front lowered.
I'm still curious to know what models our springs work with.

im in the process of replacing my aluminum frpp driveshaft because of friggin' ebrake rubbings should i just get a factory driveshaft and say f'it? will the ebrake still rub through the factory one?

Stock DS will be fine....you never hear issue's with them...The Alum one is at least 1" larger on the diameter from stock...thats where the trouble comes from..

RIO, my alum d/s was the same exact OD as the rusted steel one, well except for the rust. Both were the 3.5" diameter (memory on the measurement).

Yep, I measured mine before ordering my alum just because of the horror stories I had heard about having problems only after...

I think Ford had a recall on the E-brake. I seem to remember to have gotten a post card. You may be able to get reimbursed. Just a thought. Peace
