After I sold my pony for the wife to get a more reliable and fuel efficient means of transportation (Ponticrap Sunfire) she saw fit to let me have her convertible GT in place of psyciatric help due to Pony Withdrawel Syndrome. A hell of alot of good it does given the impending winter and tire size of this overweight Jamaican bobsled. For the past week I've been driving it and noticed the infamous 'ghetto lean' that is familer with this particular model of Mustang. I figure no worry it's a fast fix, I'll just yank the seat and get to it. No damn joy there. Lemme tell you that accident we had in it must have been wicked or it was on the way out anyway, the damned mounting bolt ripped clean through the floor on the front, drivers side, door side of the seat. No real problem I have a rig that can fix it for the time being. Unless yall know of another way I'm open to suggestions. That wasn't the main issue though. After I dragged the seat down to the basement I flipped her up and gaver er a look over and found the rails to be somewhat desired as well. Seems they saw fit to rust up bad enough one side is cracked really damn good and won't last long.

I was wondering what yall would think about this situation. Given I'm not scared of junkyard parts, hell I'm in damn favor of reusing anything as long as it's good and saves a buck, what I could do with this situation.

1) Find the damned rails and just replace them.

2) Find the damned rails and a seat in better condition of the same model and replace emm.

3) Find a newer year seat with rails and replace emm.

I'm wondering if any of you have bought any of these parts used and what would I be looking at for something decent, not neccesarily perfect in the way of seat. What did they cost you? Getting the rear seat is a given to match a newer model seat. How much trouble is it to fit the new seats and do yall have any pictures. I'm also considering to just yank the rear seat altogether and do a rear seat delete. No one rides there anyhow.

TIA

It's been discussed many times, just do search on "seat replacement", but any Mustang seat/rails will bolt up to the existing locations.
A lot of guys use the '94 on up seats in their Foxbodies, and they should fit no problem. Also the rear from a '94 on up can be used with some modification, or you can find a stock replacement at a bone yard or delete it all together. Have fun!

Both are common problems. The bolts rip out of the floorpan and the rails crack. Just buy some new rails. When my front bolt ripped out it took a hunk of the floor with it. I had a body shop weld in a new section in. It is solid as a rock now.

Thanks. I thought I did a search for everything possible but I didn't think of 'seat replacement' at all. The ones I did pertained specificaly to the rails which I found were called different things by just as many people. None of which seemed to give a really clear answer. I'll try that in a new search and see what pops up.

Went to a few local yards today and none of them would get me a straight answer as to how much a set of rails would be untill I pulled them and was ready to walk out the door. I don't do business till I know what I'm paying so I'm getting what I need from Mustang Parts Specialty. Oho well.
